“Nice Inn, in a good location.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2013

Stayed here as part of the proposed last leg of our long distance walk.
Very welcoming, if not a little corporate.
Room was through a bit of a maze of corridors but nice and off a good size, had everything we needed, shower could have been better but adiquate.
Breakfast was good, very tasty with plenty of options.
Over all a nice place to stay.

Although this hotel is the oldest pub building in Stafford over some years now it has gone down hill. We visited the pub on Sunday March the 17th 2013.
Customer Service from the management is severly lacking. Two bar staff on duty One in the bar the other in the restaurant. One manageress in the office. Bar was full. when i asked if there was any other bar staff the girl behind the bar told me no. When i went to office to ask the mangeress was not helpful at all. Bar tables were dirty. bar was dirty and had not been wiped down after several pints had passed over it form early customers. Food in this hotel is really bad. Hot meals are served cold. Service is very slow due to the management cutting back on cost of staffing. Management just sit in office playing on the computer.
It used to be good some years ago, but recent years have seen a decline in food, staff, Customer service and cleanliness.

Food Good Value. This is a Hotel, but non-residents are also welcome Although the Restaurant is small everything is cooked to order. I would reccommend it, as its off the beaten track, and a very old building.

On visiting The Vine on wedensday March 13th for a meal we were so impressed we decided to book Sunday Lunch. Big mistake we had booked our table on wedensday, when we arrived on the sunday we had to find a staff member to ask where we would be seated only to be told
over there, we sat at our table and waited for half an hour for service but alas no one came so we ventured up to the bar only to have to wait for another fifteen mins when i got to speak to a staff member she told me i am the only staff on you will have to wait then proceded to serve a group of males at the end of the bar. When we finally ordered our meal we had to wait another fifteen mins for our food which arrived burnt and cold. After asking to speak with the management we were told with a sickly smirk oh sorry about that i will imform the kitchen staff how ever it did not alter the fact that we ate only a small part of the meal and had to pay full price. I would not advise any one to eat there as the management does not seem to concered if the food is not ediable. That sickly smirk is all you will get i will never eat there again and would not reccommend any one else to eat there.

The hotel promotes itself as having the oldest pub in Stafford and I'm afraid it shows..bar areas and bedrooms in need of attention and a thorough deep clean. Had lunch at the pub which was good to be fair and nicely presented so we decided to eat there in the evening too but this wasn't as enjoyable. Staff at the Vine were friendly but the service at breakfast wasn't great. Beyond the control of the hotel we were woken at 3.50 am by bedroom activity from the room above us! Nice... All in all we only paid £50 but would not return again at any price.

its the second time me and my wife have stayed at this hotel within a year.the first time we stayed it was fine but this time a few problems.the room we stayed in room 15 was looking a bit grubby the silicone sealant all around the shower is discoloured and needs renewing.when we arrived the sink was full of water and there was hair in it.the toilet roll holder was on the wall but fixed badly lopsided.bed sheets and pillows were ok.we ate in the restaurant in the evening with my inlaws first of all we had to change one set of the cuttlery because it was filthy one of our meals arrived without the side order we had to ask for it.two of us ordered two types of steak both cooked differently when they arrived they were cooked the wrong way around.one of us ordered cheesecake but where told they didnt have any left but when we had the bill the cheesecake was on there.i dont think we will be staying there again

This was our first visit to the Vine Hotel and we were pleasantly surprised for the money that we had paid. As it is centrally located we expected it be more expensive than the so called cheaper alternatives just outside the town, but it wasn't. The room was more than adequate and well decorated with all the faciliteis required, including tea and coffee, buscuits and hairdriers. Beds were also lovely and comfy ! The breakfast ( which surprisingly was included in the price) was excellent and we didn't feel that it was cramped in the breakfast area at all. All the staff were really friendly and helpful and we couldn't have asked for more. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who is thinking of staying in Stafford and we would definitely use there again.
