I have stayed in many Premier Inn's and generally give them good reviews but this one fell below standard. Firstly, the room was very hot with no facility to turn the temp down, there was a fan but was too loud to keep on all night. It was very noisy and was kept awake by what sounded like a herd of elephants upstairs everytime anyone walked up and down, then When I finally did fall asleep I was woken up early by noisy, inconsiderate people running and talking loudly in the corridor. The room was clean enough but the TV looked like something out of the ark with a picture and sound quality to match!. When I and my friend (who had had a similarly poor nights' sleep) mentioned about the noise and heat when checking out the guy on reception didn't seem too concerned and there was no offer of the money back guarantee. The only positive was that we had a nice meal the evening before in the adjoining restaurant with good, pleasant service.

Room Tip: Stay in winter when you might be glad of the sauna-esque heat of the rooms!

This premier inn is a great place to stay, I have stayed here for the last 2yrs and I have not been disappointed on both occasions. It is approx 38 miles from Alton Towers and is one of two premier inns near to Alton depending on which side of the M6 or M1 you are coming from. It has a Chef andBrewer restaurant next door which is very convenient and the food is superb, you can have the breakfast (kids eat free) and it takes about 30 secs to get to the door from the hotel!
Hotel is only 5 mins from the M6 as well.
We stayed for 2 nights in case it rained on one of the days, visited Stafford town centre approx 5 mins from the hotel and it is a great place to visit. Plenty of shops, children's parks / play areas and restaurants so worth spending a day to recover from a day at Alton Towers.

Stayed here to visit Alton Towers. It was a little further away than we thought but with a Sat Nav and a quicker route given by the helpful and friendly staff it took about 40 minutes. The hotel itself was clean and free parking is always a bonus. The reception staff were always cheerful and more than happy to answer any of your queries. The pub next door (The Shire Horse) served excellent food and quality was superb. The free wi-fi was also a big bonus with our daughter. All in all a good hotel and in a central location for most attractions around Staffordshire.

We booked 2 nights accommodation as we were going to Alton Towers. It's still about a 40-45 minute trip further on but this was the closest accommodation we could find over the bank holiday weekend. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. We had a family room (2 kids 11 and 14). The double bed was probably a king size (it was huge) and there were two single beds and still plenty of room to manouvre. The room was quite warm at night which meant we had to sleep with the window open, we were facing the main road but weren't disturbed too much with the traffic. The first night however we were disturbed by kids running up and down corridors something I never understand as I would never allow my children to do this they would respect others in the hotel. The receptionist was extremely friendly and very helpful (Sylvia). She was the main one we dealt with and considering it was very busy in the hotel still had time to give us the best advice as to where to eat. As we had children she advised that the Brewers Fayre would probably have more choice (it's across the road attached to Premier Inn Spitfire) and you didn't have to book a table. Ideal if you have small children as there is a fun factory attached. In our room there was tea and coffee facilities, tv and fan. We had clean towels both days. The breakfast we pre-booked, it was £8.49 each and the children (under 16) ate free, I could see that it may work out expensive if there is just two of you. The choice was great, bacon, eggs, scrambled, boiled, poached or fried, tomatoes, beans, hash browns mushrooms and sausage. There was also plenty of choice on the continental side, free tea coffee and juice also, so I thought we had a bargain. It's buffet style so you can go up as many times as you like.

As for location, great just off the M6 if you are travelling up/down country and need a stop off and the journey to Alton Towers was fairly straight forward too.

You get a parking permit for the time that you are staying there too.

All in all I would recommend this hotel for anyone. I would however try and book a bit more in advance next time to get closer to the park.

We stayed at the Premier Inn Hurricane while visiting Alton towers which was around 40 minutes away. We were greeted by Sylvia at reception who was very friendly, and was very helpful while providing us information on near by places to eat and local stores.

Our room was large and quite spacious as we had a family room, the double bed was huge and there was also a sofa bed and a single bed all of which were comfortable enough for two nights. We had tea and coffee facilities in the room, a TV and a fan. The room did get very hot in the night so we did have to leave the window open.

The breakfast next door in the Shire Horse chef & brewer, was fantastic. Kids under 16 eat free and it's £8.49 for adults. There was a choice of cooked and continental breakfast, the cooked breakfast consisted of bacon, sausage, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash brown, fried egg, scrambled egg and also if you asked, a boiled egg or poached egg was available from the kitchen. The continental option included a variety of boxed cereals, dried fruit, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, muffins, toast (with a huge choice of jam, honey, butter etc.),croissants, crumpets and there was also a selection of tea, coffee, juice and milk.

I would recommend this hotel for a short stay, due to the brilliant service from the staff, good value and the overall cleanliness.

The duty manager was very pleasant and helpful recommending places to go. Shame they forgot to make the bed and leave more coffee , although they did leave milk and a couple of teabags. Lovely breakfast and a good start to our week with the grandchildren.
