My boyfriend and I decided to chose the 'luxury' option while visiting the area for V Festival- we thought the reputation of Premier Inn was so good that we would have nothing to worry about; but unfortuanely this was not so.

First I will begin with the positive points-
checking in and out was quick and easy,
the car parking was free after checking in and getting a pass to put in our window,
the carpet, sheets, surfaces and towels were all clean and all appliances worked well.

Now onto the more disappointing things about our stay;
on our arrival, we noticed the large double bed was in fact two single beds pushed together- we aren't sure if this is standard but found it annoying and uncomfortable. Although the decor of the room was quite modern, the old 'box' tv ruined it a bit, especially as it was temperamental.

Also, the room was really hot and although there was a fan, it was nothing to compete with the temperature which was stuck at 25-27.5 degrees at all times and could not be altered. As you can imagine, keeping a noisy fan on all night was sleep disrupting. Looking at other reviews, this is a problem which has been brought up before so I don't really understand why nothing has been done about it.

The staff have been commented on in other reviews as "friendly" and "helpful" but other than the woman who checked us in and out, we didn't experience this.
After one night's sleep in the room we both got bad necks as the pillows were so thin, so we asked the receptionist politely if we could get another two, in addition to the ones we already had. The member of staff responded rudely stating that we "already had extra pillows" and that she didnt even know if there was any left in the hotel to give us. Without an apology she told us to come back down later and she would sort it out, but her general attitude put us off.

In addition to this, we returned from V festival late and the front door was locked, and we had to buzz night reception. Which we proceedded to do for about ten minutes to which no member of staff responded to and another customer in the hotel saw us and let us in. Needless to say we were not happy, especially as V Festival is a well known event which everyone is aware of.

Another annoyance we encountered was to be woken up at 10am by a loud knock on our door, we assumed this was housekeeping and that they would come back later. An hour later after going back to sleep, we were woken up by another loud knock- this was odd as the previous day we didn't leave our room until 12 noon and werent disturbed before then but our room had been seen to when we got back. Later we returned to find a letter under our door saying we had a "do not disturb" sign on our door handle so they missed our room out, which was not true. The letter also said if we wanted anything to ask at reception, but needless to say we were put off by our experience of asking for extra pillows.

In general we werent happy with our stay and would not come to this premier inn again.

Usual clean and well maintained, a bit tight with 2 adults and 2 kids but fine as a base for a couple of nights. Good breakfast and food good standard in the evening at the attached pub. Room warm but fine with the window open. Located on an industrial estate so minimal noise during the night.

A lovely Premier Inn to visit. The rooms were modern and clean, amazing size beds and a small but decent bathroom. The staff were all welcoming and always said hello. The breakfast was average, but a good choice of food as we booked a unlimited amount. The only let down was the amout of air-con in our room. The night was quite hot, but we only had a fan to keep us, 2 adults and 1 teenager, cool all the way through the night. As we going to Alton Towers the next day, it was in a great location not to far away by car.

Thank you for your review.

It really matters to us that our guests have a comfortable nights sleep, and we sincerely apologise that on this occasion we failed to provide this. We are well aware of the issue of high room temperatures, and are currently in the process of installing air conditioning into all of our hotel branches.

However, this will be a lengthy process, so in the meantime the management team at the hotel have done all they can to help reduce room temperatures. Please be assured your comments have been noted and will be fully investigated.

Once again thank you for your review, we look forward to welcoming you back to Premier Inn in the future.

Great place to stay for a night or two. Matches the general consistency of Premier Inn hotels, staff were friendly and pub next door was decent and also had a nice beer garden and outdoor area. Would stay again if I am passing through.

Good hotel, nice room plenty big enough for the three of us (two adults, one young teenager). Main problem was the room was too hot. There was a fan in the room, but it was so noisy it disturbed our sleep. Room was modern, clean and well equipped. Only other complaint was we were advised that we didn't need to book at the pub/restaurent next door (Thursday night), but when we go there, we were told there was a 45 minute wait for a table. We went to Brewers Fayre across the road by the other Premier Inn - meal didn't look as good, but was okay. We ended up with free drinks and beverages (could have had pudding too), as they brought out two of our meals, leaving the third waiting for about 10 minutes - of course we complained! It wasn't even busy.
This all seems rather whiney(?), so have to add that overall we enjoyed our stopover as we were visiting Alton Towers (rather a long journey there from the hotel - about 45 minutes for us on the course the satnav took us).
