“Friendly staff and good food”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

Have eaten here several times during the last four weeks and despite the fact that at they were really busy the food and service have still been really good. Had our office xmas meal here and have to say it was lovely and the veg was varied and fresh. One evening went for dinner and had the steak, it was excellent and cooked the way you request, asked for medium rare thats what I got.

“Run up to Christmas probably not a good time”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

We went on a mid-week evening on the lead in to Christmas and that probably affected our experience. The menu was somewhat curtailed possibly to allow for the Xmas Fare and there were several large parties eating there. Having said that the service was very good, courteous, friendly and efficient with very little delay.

The lack of tablecloths and use of paper napkins gives an indication of what culinary level is being pitched and I would describe it as good pub food rather than gastro pub.

We had two appetisers ( which should more accurately be listed as sharing platters given their size) - a vegetarian platter (very nice) and tempura vegetables (interesting use of sprouts, cauli and carrot discs - slightly odd but not unpleasant).

Rather than a main course I had 3 starters whilst my wife had 2. The logistics of this did not faze the waitress or the kitchen which impressed me. Whilst all of them were perfectly adequate none of them had the wow factor.

We finished with desserts which were really good and coffee.

The total bill was £83 including £25 of drinks for the two of us. So certainly at the cheaper end of the range as far as I am concerned.

We will certainly go back after Christmas and see what we think when things are more normal.

“Delicious food excellent service”
Reviewed December 15, 2012

Went on a Friday evening for a meal with the wife. The bar area was very busy and noisy which made us second guess our choice. However once in the restaurant it was a pleasant surprise. Nice atmosphere the service was excellent and staff very friendly. Food is fairly expensive but definitely value for money. We will be going here often.
