Perfectly acceptable member of the Holiday Inn Express chain. Room was big and clean with a comfy bed and a nice shower. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast not great but adequate.
Very very handy for M6 - would stay there again.

We needed a hotel relatively close to Alton Towers as we made our way up the M6 & as other hotels slightly closer were either too expensive or unavailable we opted for this one & we were more than happy with our choice.

If you've ever stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before it's all relatively standard-fare. Modern throughout with clean, decent rooms with the added-bonus of a buffet breakfast included in the price. The good thing about this property is that it's a few hundred yards from the motorway but not so close that you're overlooking it or hearing it. Also there's two options to eat & drink adjacent to the hotel - a large family-chain pub & a modern restaurant - The Square Orange. We ate in the latter & it was really pretty good.

Having stayed in numerous other hotels whilst visiting Alton Towers I probably wouldn't stay anywhere else as long as I could get a rate of £50 or less again. It's a simple 20-30 minute drive through the countryside to the Theme Park which is ideal when looking to stay after a long day at the park. Bear in mind that aside from the expensive on-site hotels at the park even the closest chain hotels in nearby Uttoxeter are 15 minutes away. If you're planning to visit the park for 2 days with a night in between however it would be better to stay closer - ideal for a night before or after a day in the park when coming from the South though.

Nothing flash but a good price for a decent quality "budget" hotel.
