Originally found this little gem while exploring possible places to stay for a couple of nights in the north Midlands. Alton Towers deals looked particularly attractive. Abandoned that idea but still needed family stop-off point between NE Scotland and Cornwall. And with the offer of a "leisure break" deal of £40 for the four of us including breakfast, just too good to miss.

Hotel situated about 1 mile from J13 of the M6, just south of Stafford and offers usual services of HIExpress brand. Surprisingly quiet given it's location. Beds comfortable with great powerful showers. There is a pub across the road which serves food (arrived too late to try it) but hotel has a bar which stays open late. Breakfast is usual Continental fayre - disappointing if you are expecting the full English works I supose, but perfectly good. Our lot certainly had no complaints! Overall a fantastic stopping off place on a long journey south - roll in at 10pm to find a comfortable room waiting for you, have a pint and a good night's sleep before an excellent healthy breakfast, then back on the road by 9am.

Only negative points - shower a bit loose and the hairdryer didn't work. But for that price - who cares about a bit of wet hair!!!!!

stayed at the hotel for two nights with my husband as a stop off for alton towers. although it took us longer to get to the theme park than we orginally thought - journey was 45mins, not too bad.
we found the hotel staff friendly and welcoming, the rooms very comfortable and clean, great shower! breakfast basic but we know this when we booked.
the pub across from the hotel was great, staff friendly and food lovely, so nice we eat there both nights and to top oit off all the main menu is 2 for the price of 1!!!
would definately stay again and would highly recommend

Stayed here on a Friday night. It was OK, but not brilliant. The rooms are looking a little tired, but are very clean and the beds comfortable.
The restuarant 241 over the car park was good value but service was dreadfully slow due to chronic undermanning.
Service in the hotel was OK but not anything like as good as Inverness. Breakfast was poor, no fresh fruit, no rolls, no napkins, tables left dirty and when the dishes were removed the tables were not wiped
This hotel could learn a lot from the Express at Inverness.

Quiet although close to Motorway, our rooms were on ground floor. Adequate size, clean and comfortable.
Pub/Restaurant (called "Catch Corner") across car park was good and cheap. A little slow for drinks due to understaffing, but OK.
Breakfast in hotel was entirely acceptable.

Stopped off here on way back down south after client visit in Warrington.

Nice resteraunt across car park with all food 2 4 1 every day.

Downside was had to endure Englands dismal performance against Russia in the footie.

Quiet Hotel and cheap for Express by Holiday Inn (£49).

Also handy for (massive !!) new forces memorial at National Arbortarium about 30 minutes away.

Will definitely use again.
