“Good restaurant, dodgy accommodation”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

This place is primarily a restaurant in a pub; the overnight accommodation is clearly just an add on to get more revenue. Consequently, while the restaurant was good (nice food, reasonably priced, friendly staff), the accommodation was dodgy. We stayed for 2 nights. During that time, the radiator in the spartan en suite did not work. We reported this to the staff and asked for it to be fixed, but nothing was done. The bedroom was also cold (although the radiator there was warm), so we asked if a blanket could be provided. In response, we were told that this was not possible.

So, if you decide to stay here, I recommend that you avoid Room 1 if the weather is cold. Better still, I would say ‘Eat here but stay elsewhere.’

Incidentally, we were given the chance to fill in a questionnaire about our visit. Virtually the whole of the questions referred to the restaurant, with only a brief question about the accommodation. This confirmed my view that the management have no interest in the standard of accommodation.

We stayed at The Hedgehog for 2 nights for a wedding near Lichfield and found the staff really friendly and the room quiet, clean and comfortable. The pub downstairs was lovely and cosy for a couple of glasses of wine before bed. Fantastic value.

Stayed the night before my wedding in Lichfield. Hosts were very accommodating and cheerful, they helped set up the atmosphere for my vows the following day, with an excellent meal in the restaurant and a chilled evening. Room was comfy and no problem getting a good night's rest.

We stayed here for one night whilst visiting Lichfield and it was perfect! We paid £55 for the night and thought it was great value! Staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms are a good standard( very very clean) and the continental breakfast was great.

We spent the evening in the restaurant which had a lovely traditional feel - god food and good value.

Would definetly recommend this place, great great value!

I've stayed here a few times on business trips and love it here! Rooms are very comfortable and downstairs you have a warm cosy pub serving excellent real ales and the food menu is supurb! I had the lamb shank pie - which reminded me of Desparate Dan pies - washed down with a nice ale.....perfect winter food! Staff are really friendly and helpful and the cooked breakfast in the morning was delicious. A lovely place to stay in Lichfield.

6 Arrived 15 mins early to ensure relaxed atmosphere. Seated and ordered without a problem. 1 3/4 hours later we finally got the food ordered. Other customers came and went during the time we waited. The waitress informed us it was because there was so many of us!! Every time she said our meals were about ready, another table got their food!!! When the food finally arrived it was very disappointing, one guest had a cold plate, cold veg and a crust on her pie that would break teeth and the rest of the food was mediocre to say the least. It was our sons 21st family birthday meal and quite frankly I could have cried it was so awful. We will never go there again!
