“Amazing service, a real treat.”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

Greeted on the car park and from then on until departure the service was amazing. Our room was more an apartment, large lounge area, separate bedroom, king-size bed, bathroom with walk-in shower and all decorated and furnished to a very high standard. Wall mounted flat screen TVs in both the lounge and bedroom.
Service in this hotel is unbelievable, the best we have ever had anywhere.
The whole of the hotel is decorated and furnished to the same high standard and attention to detail is amazing.
Breakfast is cooked using high quality locally sourced ingredients and served by friendly attentive staff. Likewise the evening meals, delicious with a choice of restaurants and menus.
This was the most relaxing and luxurious hotel we have stayed in, not too posh, just stylish and comfortable with personal service to make you feel special.

Room Tip: We had the Boswell room, fabulous.

Stayed at Netherstowe on Their Fantastic Friday package which includes a Friday night stay in one of the amazing rooms, cocktails before dinner, three course dinner and saturday morning breakfast. Lots of staff on hand to assist you and all very friendly and efficient. Probably the most comfortable and spacious hotel room I have ever stayed in, ours was the Boswell room, a huge lounge area with TV sofa's etc and a dining table should you choose to dine in your room, lovely bedroom and good bathroom with a very poweful shower. Took our cocktails on the lawn and then enjoyed a gourmet standard meal presented and served beautifully in the main dining room. Slept like a log in the comfortable bed and never heard a peep from any of the other guests, there are only a small number of rooms and none of the rowdy elements you tend to come across in larger establishments. Breakfast was a pretty standard hotel fare well presented and efficiently served. Spent Saturday exploring Lichfield including the Cathedral wich is well worth a visit and its free. Will certainly return to this hotel again.

Room Tip: Excellent showewr in the Boswell Room, some rooms have roll topped baths, best to check this out bef...

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a superb review. The whole team were absolutely delighted to read about your memorable experience. At Netherstowe House we believe that there is just something special about a luxurious hotel room and with our popular Fantastic Friday special offer you will find everything you need to make a relaxing escape unforgettable. Check in; take a cocktail or a nap, order room service, your favourite drink or afternoon tea; take a walk around the historic Cathedral city of Lichfield, finish your Friday with a sumptuous dinner in our award winning restaurant and start the Saturday with breakfast in bed. Netherstowe House is a unique retreat due in part to it being one of the countries most intimate and original hotels, with 9 individually designed guest rooms and 8 contemporary courtyard apartments. Each room boasts its own distinct style, decorated with beautiful furnishings and richly textured fabrics so you can be transported into another world, beyond the everyday. The Boswell room looks out over our splendid magnolia tree and comprises its own lounge and dining area with large flatscreen TV. In teal, cream and gold tones, this area flows through to the bedroom and both include feature fireplaces. Another wall-mounted TV in the bedroom and mirrored furniture complete this elegant space. The whole team very much look forward to welcoming you back to Netherstowe House on your return visit.

To be greated by a front of house member of staff on the car park was amazing. I was taken to the living room where a sofa had been reserved to wait for a friend. We had a glass of champagne with our package so we had that on the sofa first. When we were shown to our table I was stunned at how beautiful it looked. We had a table in the Ivy room which was a small room with just four tables, it made it feel
Very private and relaxed. The waitress we had was so attentive. She explained the different tea menus first before bringing the afternoon tea stand. We were given special bag hooks for our handbag which I thought was a nice touch. We relaxed over our afternoon tea for 3 hours and never felt pressured for the bill. We were shown around other areas like the steak bar downstairs which looks amazing. I would love to go back with my husband for a meal one night and can't wait to go for afternoon tea again.

Little bit disappointed in this place. Staff were very pleasant and accommmodating. Breakfast was ok. The place needs a good lick of paint. Room was pleasant but a bit dated. Still very nice though. Easy walking distance to cathedral.

Thank you for your review. Netherstowe House is indeed steeped in history and we like to think that this is part of the charm. Our unique retreat was first operated as a water-powered mill in 1180 by Gilbert Poun, a Chamberlain of Bishop Piech, and was later converted into a beautiful half-timbered residence surrounded by old trees and wild flowers. Today, each of our hotel guest rooms are packed full of character, combining traditional elegance with lots of luscious little touches to make you feel welcome. The traditional Manor room you reserved boasts homely, comfortable interiors for a relaxing country house stay. Alternatively, our sumptuous Superior and Deluxe rooms and Penthouse master suite are perfect for a romantic retreat and special occasions whilst our contemporary Courtyard Apartments offer the luxury of a hotel and the freedom of home. I am sincerely sorry that you were a little disappointed on this occasion and that our Maintenance Manager appears to have missed a few chips on his daily paint round. I am however delighted that our friendly team were very pleasant and accommodating throughout the duration of your stay. Our aim at Breakfast is to enable our guests to enjoy a supremely comfortable vibrant and uniquely local experience and we are therefore proud to offer free range eggs, dry-cured bacon reared in Staffordshire, delicious herby sausages from our local butcher and a variety of fresh daily buffet treats and fruit juices. Our team will continue to work hard to evolve and enhance our services everyday and I hope that after your return visit I can l look forward to reading a glowing report about your experience.

This hidden gem of Lichfield is a rare find. The magnificent house is tastefully and sympathetically decorated welcoming you with fine ease. It is like coming home to a residence many dream of. The service is warm, friendly yet professional, paying attention to every detail, even those you hadn't thought of. We all had a different starter and were very happy with the presentation and quality of the dishes. The main course followed and again we all chose something different. The pork was exquisite, cooked to perfection and the other dishes (lamb and sea bream) were equally well received. The deserts were in my view undersold on the menu because when they arrived they were again, superb. Full of flavour with great attention to presentation.
There is an extensive drinks and wine list and for whisky lovers, the 21 year old Old Pulteney is a must.
After the meal, we relaxed in the lounge with a coffee pondering how quickly we could find an excuse to return. A fantastic night out and one which I would recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: We didn't stay over - we only visited the restaurant
