We have just returned from a weekend at Netherstowe House celebrating a friends 60th birthday. What a wonderful find! The hotel is a lovely old mill house with modern extension. Our party took over all the bedrooms in the older part. The rooms are all beautiful and individual, and we were lucky enough to have the lovely Johnson Room with it's huge bath with wall mounted TV above.

The service was impeccable from the moment we were greeted in the car park until the moment we left. All members of staff were very attentive, friendly and paid great attention to detail.(We even saw the fringes of a rug being combed back into position !!!!) When we discovered that my son had forgotten his cufflinks I asked if they had such a thing as a spare pair and about 20 minutes later a pair arrived in a smart box. I believe that a member of staff had gone home and got them! Absolutely amazing.

Our party was great fun and the hotel staff looked after us really well, knowing when to leave us alone and unobtrusively serving us and clearing. The food was also very good.

The whole ambience of the hotel is exceptional and we really did feel as if it was a "home from home". We were all very reluctant to leave and will certainly return. Thank you Netherstowe.

Room Tip: All rooms in the old building were lovely. We would recommend the Johnson, which is large and has a...

We held my Mum's 60th birthday dinner at Netherstowe House and it was a fabulous experience. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, anticipating our needs before we knew we had them, and even sending staff home to bring in their own cuff links when one of our guests had forgotten theirs! They also went out of their way to support me in the surprises I wanted to arrange for Mum!

Rooms were beautiful, food was great, decor in the place as a whole was both immaculate and full of interesting things to look at!

Only reason why this place doesn't get five out of five is that the shower wasn't powerful at all, and it was far too hot! Other than that, an amazing stay, and we'd definitely go back!

What a pleasant hotel with very go dinning,we had a really nice meal served by pleasant staff.
The sitting area is very welcoming with really comfy seat where you can enjoy a pre dinner drink and when you have had your meal you can relax there before you leave or got to your room for a really good night sleep.

Room Tip: Just enjoy the hotel and then go into Lichfield to visit the many attractions.

We came to Netherstowe House for afternoon tea on the 4th November.
The quality of the food was poor, smoked salmon was on its way out, the bread was stale and there simply wasn't enough quantity for the price you pay.( £15.95)

The fruit jelly and scones were lovely and attention to the presentation was good.

The service was poor, it took a while for everything to happen, we waited and waited and waited. ( which is possibly why the bread was stale!)

Overall, I would go for the " afternoon tea experience" somewhere else but thats not to say I wouldn't return.

Ps. Thank you for the small touch of the card for my friends event. She enjoyed that small touch.

We genuinely put a premium on, and take great joy from, our guests being truly nourished and experiencing sincere hospitality. I am therefore sorry that you were not completely satisfied with your visit to Netherstowe House on this occasion. We strive to offer affordable luxury with a focus on quality rather than quantity and are therefore delighted that in the local area there is a community of food lovers who are happy to be welcomed warmly and charged fair prices for seasonal fresh food. Traditional Afternoon Tea at Netherstowe House is very popular and comprises a selection of loose leaf tea, delicate sandwiches, warm homemade scone with Devonshire clotted cream and seasonal preserve. The assortment of sweets additionally served to you as part of your afternoon tea on 4th November were prepared by our chefs with fresh ingredients and included mixed winter berry jelly, white chocolate brownie and fruit tart filled with blueberries, red currents and raspberries. We are proud to have sourced the sustainable salmon for your sandwich from Severn and Wye Smokery and received delivery of this on 3rd November. This salmon is traditional oak smoked, with simple ingredients from a long standing highland recipe. It is strong in smoked flavour to ensure a long preservation time. Your table was reserved for the entire afternoon as we like our guests to enjoy a professionally paced and relaxing service in a unique homely setting of comfort, style and happiness. Netherstowe House is honoured to have received the award for both ‘Restaurant of the Year’ and ‘Outstanding Service’ from Taste of Staffordshire.

Have just stayed 2 nights at the hotel for a family wedding. Service was generally excellent, however we had booked a meal in the cellar restaurant and were asked to select the menu for the steak bar and pay in advance, most unusual. There were 2 choices of steak. Fillet or rib-eye, both quite expensive. In the event we were served quite poor rump steaks. This was a family celebration and I did not want to spoil the atmosphere by making a fuss. However I was disappointed to say the least.

Thank you for your review and kind comments regarding the service. It was a pleasure to welcome you to Netherstowe House as part of your families party and I am delighted to have received letters of thanks from your siblings subsequent to their stay. As advised at time of booking, we do not have a banqueting kitchen. Large parties such as yours are therefore served the same individually prepared dishes as our À la carte guests but as we are unable to prepare a variety of different dishes at the same moment we kindly ask that you pre-order for the whole party from the private dining menu making allowance for those who have special dietary requirements. We are proud to have sourced premium 28 day aged steaks for you from a local butcher and cook the rib-eye to your specific requirement. No member of your party was served rump steak.

What a delightful experience. From the initial welcome as we got out of our car to the sad goodbyes as we left, our weekend could not have been better. First impressions are everything and these were enhanced by the decor and furnishings as soon as we entered the hallway. The staff could not have been friendlier or smilier, they made our stay a pleasant and enjoyable weekend.
Unfortunately the restaurants were fully booked and we were unable to try the food in the extremely atmospheric air raid shelter but maybe next time, we should have booked earlier.
The breakfast was great, made even more enjoyable by the attentive and highly efficient Mala. She was a joy to be served by with a great sense of humour.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Minster room which was spacious and elegant, our friends stayed in four other rooms...
