This was the second time we had visited this cosy little cafe on the corner. We didnt reserve and Sunday was fully booked with all lunchtime tables reserved or occupied. However Tanya was very accomodating estimating 40mins for a table to become available. It was 13:20 so we gave our mobile no.s to her and ambled off up the high street for a browse in the bookshop. Less than 30mins later she was calling us to advise that a table was free.
Their roasts are amazing and especially the lamb. Huge portions served to us by Eve, our very friendly waitress. All the staff are smiling and friendly. A lovely atmosphere. My lamb came with the largest yorkshire pud I have ever seen, about 5 inches across and crispy. The meat I was told was shoulder but it looked like a medallion of lamb 3 inches wide and an inch thick. Pink but ever so tender. Loads of very flavoursome gravy and veg cooked just al dente- courgette, carrot, squash and onions. As well as the most gorgeous roasties, the lamb also came on a small bed of mash. Nice touch and enough to fill the hungry. This is a roast you will not be disappointed by and it very good value at £13.90. The rest of the menu wont disappoint either if you are not in the mood for a roast. A real gem. Book to avoid disappointment.
