Ideally located in the centre of Wells and well appointed. The restaurant was also very comfortable. Service was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The menu was varied and contempory and the wine list interesting and modern. The Bordeaux we had was delicious! Our questions about the menu were answered with knowledge and expertise and the dishes we chose were full of flavour, cooked to perfection and presented with style. The Hanger Steak was particularly delicious. All round we had a very pleasant evening and a superb dining experience & to top it all it was very good value at less than £100 for 3 courses for the 2 of us including a quality bottle of Bordeaux!

Walked past this restaurant so many times on the way to the Ancient Gatehouse, but this time we decided to make a change. On arrival, the staff were very attentive and friendly. We were sat at the back (Raised area) where you get a great view of the Cathedral. I had the Guineafowl and my wife had the lamb. Both cooked to perfection and with the vegetables etc was a great meal. The desserts were also very good. Treacle tart - my wife is still talking about it. I had a chocolate dessert with honeycomb on top. Would have that again. Very enjoyable evening!

This restaurant is a little gem. We love it. We decided to go to Wells for a weekend away and looked on the internet for restaurant recommendations. Jay Raynor the food critic who has appeared on 'Master Chef' gave this restaurant a great review, so naturally we thought let's give it a go and boy are we glad we did. The food is incredible. The menu is different and delicious, the staff are friendly and attentive. The cost is surprisingly not expensive considering the standard of food... it is just incredible. It's a perfect little place and we love our 'old spot' (table) in this restaurant. If you love top quality food and you fancy a little special place to go, then we can't recommend this restaurant enough !!!!

A lovely restaurant where we were seated on the raised area with fine views out to Wells Cathedral over the green. Bells ringing during our Sunday lunch.
Four vegetarians and the choice of starters was good, but only one choice on mains. But all the food was good when it arrived, interesting flavours and innovative combinations which all worked. The main was on a pastry base that was a little chewy, but the flavours were outstanding. And for dessert most of had a clafoutis that was lovely. Great wine list and we had a lovely Pinot Noir.
Service was friendly and relaxed, but efficient. All in all a lovely Sunday lunch and we'll be back.

Absolutely faultless. We came in on a Tuesday night, had 3 courses each and couldn't have been happier. Great service, lovely ambiance and above all stunning food. I had the pigeon, bacon, hazelnut and black pudding salad which was sublime. And the guineafowl for the main which I took a punt on (as everything else sounded so delish, but i wanted to try something different) and was thrilled with what came out. We shared 3puds between four of us and the chocolate terrine thing (I forget the name) really stood out. If I had a tiny critisism it was that the treacle tart could have been served warm. Coffee was great and we all had an amazing evening. A massive Thank you for a great memorable evening.
