Each course was superb. My tastebuds enjoyed and savoured every mouthful, an absolute delight, one I will gladly repeat soon. My only upset.... when i had finished eating and could eat no more.

Add this restaurant to your bucket list. My recommendation; don't miss out on this experience. xxx

We enjoyed a fabulous three course lunch at The Old Spot today (Tuesday 3rd April 2013). Great service with exceptional food. We would recommend without reservation.

Popped in for the first time and had a great lunch. Friendly attentive service and good with our 3 year old. 4 choices for starter main and dessert. We just had starter and main, good simple flavours letting the food doing the talking with simple not over the top presentation. Definitely back for more. Hopefully for an evening meal without the children!

Certainly in the top 2 places that I have eaten in Wells. Great decor and finish, friendly staff and good wine list. The menu is varied but not too much in the way of vegge choices; the menu is a little on the dear side but is just about justified as the flavours were up there.

Recommended.

My partner and I took his parents here on a Saturday evening. The place was pretty full and the atmosphere was great - we sat on the upper level, a few steps up from the main floor where the tables have wonderful views of Wells Cathedral. Service was excellent, attentive without being overbearing. I did think when the wine arrived that things might not go well as the red we had ordered for two of our party was just poured in to glasses without the offer to taste. Strangely then the white for the other two was offered to taste. Anyway, it was no big deal, just not the normal etiquette and I was concerned it was a signal that were were in for a haphazard service expereince. Not so. From there everything was superb. Food was wonderful in each course. The almond tart with rhubarb was heavenly and my father in law who is not quick to praise said his creme brulee was the best he had ever had in a restaurant. It had been a few years since our last visit and we resolved to make it a more regaulr thing.
