Awful. Went for a "roast" which to us means the food will be roasted. It arrived delivered in around 4 minutes, my wife Mrs Jingles was sure she heard a ping. Nothing wAs roasted. The beef was boiled, the veg, broccoli (on the turn) and carrots were not cooked, but more like dipped briefly in boiling water. In fact tepid more like as they arrived lukewarm. The Yorkshire pudding was not one one aunt Bessie's but more like one from the tesco value range.
Then the beef, the beef had been more boiled than the veg. It was therefore rubbery and I decided I would rather eat the tongue from the left foot of my five year old dr marten's boot. Mrs jingles had to eat in her coat as the pub was cold. Her bottle of highland spring (:50p in spar) was £2.60. The only real interesting thing there was the couple who wheeled their in in one of those ponsey three wheeled prams that parents often wheel little Hugo or Imogen in.
Mind you when the waiter minced over and asked how our Meal was we both said "lovely" so we only gave ourselves to blame.

If you're looking for a city break then the City Arms in Wells is perfect. The rooms are really nice and it's good to see a room with a proper shower. The breakfasts are good as is all food served throughout the day. The staff are really friendly and good fun. Dawn works amazingly hard to serve customers and the rest of the team look after you.

The city of Wells is beautiful and we would recommend visiting the Bishops palace.

All in all excellent.

Located in the historic centre of Wells, this is a perfect place for a short or longer stay. Inexpensive car park near by, the cathedral and shops are just minutes away on foot.
The City Arms has four magnificent rooms, all designed and decorated by the landlady, each with its own theme. The rooms are rich and luxurious, and very spacious with all comforts that you can imagine.
The inn serves some great beers and ciders and the food is simply superb. This pub / b&b is run with loving care and eye for detail by very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

We stayed in the king size room (room 3) and after having cycled to Wells from Bristol, we were delighted to be greeted by such attentive and friendly staff. The room itself was lovely, with a comfortable bed and huge shower, but it was definitely the staff that made this place well worth a visit. From the moment we arrived they were friendly and helpful, even offering to lock up our bikes for us so that they would be safe. The breakfast we had in the morning was also fantastic and I can highly recommend the Full English, which tasted amazing and was cooked to perfection (we didn't eat there in the evening but if the rest of the food is even half as good as the breakfast, you're in for a treat). Will definitely be recommending the City Arms to friends.

We were the first to stay in the new rooms in this charming old pub,we booked the period king-size(Room 3) and my wife’s reaction when the door was opened by Dawn was wow!! a fantastic large room with oak beams ,up to the ceiling trusts, fabulous comfortable king-size bed, great décor very boutique, you would not expect in a pub, oil paintings on the walls complemented the large flat screen tv positioned just right to watch in bed and the drencher walk in shower (you could fit 4 people in it)was hot and certainly drenched you!!Top class décor and bathroom.oh and the pubs home cooked food(took us 10mins just to look through the vast selection) was amazing and complimented the vast selection of real ales ( I recommend Hedge Monkey Glastonbury Ales)a big thank you to Dawn and the staff for making our stay memorable especially Simon the Frenchman who took our luggage to the room.We shall return in autumn ,HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
