“A step back in time”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2012

Remember Indian restaurants when they first become popular? Well, Rajah is still stuck there.

The food is OK if the sauces all taste similar. Not for the sophisticated palate. Indian cuisine has moved on. Shame Rajah hasn't.

And beware the pickle tray. It's passed from table to table with the spoons left on it. We observed one diner using the spoon to put pickles straight into his mouth. Ugh!

Happy landings.

“Very good traditional Curry house”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2012

There are two curry houses in Wells (the smallest city in England) and whenever I visit this lovely place - and feel like a curry - this is the curry house which I like to go to. It's a very traditional 'Indian' with illuminated pictures (wonderfully 1970s!), a fairly traditional menu (still with plenty of interesting dishes on it, such as Lamb Chops, or Duck Chilli Bhuna), and plenty of great Indian beers. Like any decent Indian restaurant, thie chef will conjur up anything that isn't on the menu. Very good and friendly service (from Mr Alli and his team) together with good value make this a pleasurable dining experience, even if not the most sophisticated.

“Nice little Indian restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

Came here on a Friday night during a one-night stay near Wells, was promptly seated despite the place being very busy. The room is a bit small and snug but pleasant. Waiters were very polite, prompt and attentive. The poppadums were provided with a nice selection of dips, and the menu has the usual fare at a reasonable price. The food, a lamb balti, lamb jalfrezi, garlic naan and pilau rice was quickly made and tasted great, although they both tasted and looked very similar and were not as spicy as I would have liked or was expecting. However I would come back and eat here again if I was in the area.

“Reasonable Food and Value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2012 via mobile

Booked for a Saturday night. The place is not exactly the biggest place going so its wise to book on busy nights.

The decor was clean, if a little plain. The service was attentive and the waiters looked after us. Food was not the most attractive looking Indian good I've ever had, though it was certainly very tasty.
