Had just visited the Cathedral and Bishops Palace gardens and decided that a cup of tea was required. The cathedral cafe was closed (Sunday) so we had a wander down the road. Fortunately we stumbled across the Crofters. The young man serving us recommended the scones, there was a choice of savoury or sweet, we chose the sweet ones, served with butter and jam and with a lovely pot of tea. Delightful place. Very reviving.

Been in a few times over the summer for tea and cakes. Cakes are a little dear, but good quality and wide selection so cant complain. Staff always friendly.
To top it off they sell lovington's ice cream, what more do you want?

I travel to Wells every Wednesday from Weston Super Mare to go to Crofters with my Mother and Grandaughter Bobzy, the homemade food is delicious and always varied, the homemade cakes are to die for, and the coffee.. say no more. The staff are delightful, always a lovely greeting, and the two managers always have time to come and have a chat with us, by far the best in Wells, would not go anywhere else.. well done Crofters

We dropped into Wells on a really cold afternoon in February and sought haven in Crofters to warm up. When you first go in the ambience doesn't knock you off your feet but the coffee smells great and the cakes look great. Whilst we were choosing our cakes we found the waitress serving us really friendly and polite, a real 10 out of 10, she even swapped around the slices of cake so we got a slightly larger piece. Liz has a fruit slice which she said was nice and I had a treacle slice. Wow, was it treacly????!!! Enough to turn you diabetic! We had two cappucini, (one decaf), and they were both lovely and smooth. We paid about £7.
Whilst we were enjoying our cakes a party of 6 or people came in of whom several had learning diabilities, and the waitress again was excpetionally kind and helpful to them and took plenty of time with them; really inspiring.
Liz noted that in the loos they were well kitted out with colour differentiated handrails etc for those people that needed them, which is also pretty cool.
Hats off to the management and the people who work in this place, very commendable.
