Why can't all streets be like this? Untouched, well maintained, full of character, cobbled street, lovely chimneys, it's as if one is transported to another time. Gorgeous!

Not the best weather but we loved vicar's close. The buildings and history were wonderful. We had to dodge the hail stones but it was worth it see this unique close

Take a stroll down this wonderful little close and step back in time! Lovely houses which are well kept, peaceful too. Some of them are occupied by the Wells Cathedral Music School and it was nice to hear music from there, which just added to the atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

This is alleged to be the oldest constantly inhabited street in Europe. The Close is narrower at the top than the bottom, making it appear falsely long from the cathedral end. Often music wafts out of the windows of the woodwind department (which is located in the Close) of Wells Cathedral School , which just adds to the atmosphere. This is a real "must see" in Wells, but please remember that cobbles and stiletto heels don't mix!!

It feels like you are transported to another time. Well kept residential buildings. No through traffic and a delight to see.
