This is well worth a visit to see how the cottages were built, the garden gates which most of them look the same, and the chimneys are a bonus.

Despite the visible mod cons and occasional children's toy, this quiet cobbled close is still very reminiscent of medieval times. It helps that you will still see men in robes scurrying over to the cathedral, even if they are shod in brogues or Reeboks underneath!
Quaint cottages, fascinating architecture on a more down-to-earth scale than its immediate neighbour. Well worth a poke about.

Really beautiful little mediaeval street, worth a wander up and down. It's the only complete mediaevel street remaining in Britain, worth a look!

Beautiful street with all it's houses lined up on a cobbled ground and with little front-yards each one. From one end of the street, you can see the cathedral tower and the arched gate of the close. It's just beside Wells Cathedral (on the north side) so you can't miss it. A perfect spot for a picture on a 14th century street. A must if you go to Wells.

Vicar's Close in Wells in a beautiful little street just around the corner from the cathedral, not even 2 minutes walk. It is a must when in Wells just to stand and see this street. The houses are stunning with amazing chimneys and cute little front gardens.
