“Unique. A taste of the mediaeval world”

A lovely complete mediaeval street. It completes the picture of an ecclesiastical world, alongside the Cathedral and Bishops Palace.

“If you have a camera, this is a must.”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

The delightful Vicar's Close, adjacent to Wells Cathedral is worth a few minutes of your time. When it was constructed, they deliberately played with the perspective to fool your eyes into seeming it as much longer than it really is. These ancient and unique terraces of charming stone-built cottages never fail to make a wonderful picture for even the most amateur photographer.

Such a beautiful, historical little close. The attention to detail within the architecture is outstanding.

“step back in time”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

Vicars close in like returning to an earlier era. The cobbled street and ancient chimneys are magical. Can hear music being played all the time from Wells Cathedral School music department.

“Vicar's Close”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

The oldest continuously inhabited street in Western Europe - we're told. All residents are involvled with the Church in some form or other. Lucky them!
