“A Very Special Place”
Reviewed November 9, 2011

We've visited many cathedrals, and this one ranks near the top of the list. It is so unusual to find a cathedral of this size and history in such a small city. Perhaps it's due to the size of the city, but the people we met at the cathedral were helpful without exception. Two highlights merit mention. First of all, the Evensong service held late afternoon/early evening every day is an absolute must (even for non Christians); the setting is spectacular and the voices of the choir are sublime. Secondly, the free tours offered several times a day are well worth your time; they bring the history of the cathedral into perspective and highlight its many treasures.

“Breathtaking experience”
Reviewed October 22, 2011

We visited Wells Cathedral and it was a breathtaking experience. They charge to get in but it's worth every penny. Mind you do have to pay and an extra 3 pounds for the privilege of taking pictures with your own camera. Don't forget to stop off at the cloisters. Make sure to see the Western end of the Quire , it's beautiful.
