Having moved to Wells a few months ago we thought we should try out some of the local restaurants. Our first choice was Café Piano, mainly because vouchercloud had a 50% off food voucher available.
The restaurant was quiet for a Friday night, but nevertheless there was a lovely atmosphere, with great music and a very friendly and attentive waiter.
We ordered starters (Poached mushrooms and whole Mediterranean cocktail prawns), mains (chicken with pineapple and a berry sauce, and butterflied fillet steak) and also desserts (chocolate fudge cake and chocolate cheesecake). All courses were superb. Generous portions, but not too overwhelming. The dishes were beautifully presented and you could tell they were freshly prepared for us. The waiter bought over tap water once we had sat down and we also had a glass of wine each. The bill for all this (with the 50% off for food) was £32.50. We felt this was really brilliant value.
The only thing letting this restaurant down is the slightly dated décor, but this actually just helped the relaxed feel. We would love to go on a Saturday one day to hear the live music as I'm sure this would only add to the wonderful dining experience that Café Piano offers.

I was going to go to another recommended pub in Wells but was put off by the manger comments on tripadvisor, so decided to try Cafe Piano. I wasn´t disappointed either by the prices or the quality of the food.

Booked a table for two although I don't think we needed to. Got there at 12.30 so it was still quiet, but filled up pretty quickly. There were four main roasts, with a couple of extra mains and a duck breast special. I opted for the pork and my boyfriend the beef. The food was really good - nice moist meat, plenty of gravy, lovely stuffing/Yorkshire pud and nice selection of veggies. The apple sauce was also really tasty.

We each had a chocolate fudge cake which was delightful - rich but not heavy, served with fruit garnish and pouring cream (not plastic squirty cream from a can).

Two courses each, plus two soft drinks and a coffee came to a total of £28 (which I thought was great, considering two courses only would have cost £30 in other places).

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the pianist not so full on or loud as to make an uncomfortable atmosphere. Will definitely be going again one day.

We came here two days after Christmas for my mum's 60th birthday (a young 60 so don't read anything into that!).

We had a lovely meal on a set menu - still plenty of choice and reasonably priced (about £400 for 9 people to have a 3 course meal excl. drinks).

The singer was excellent and certainly caught the eye of a couple of ladies at the table!

Would definitely recommend!

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to write a review on Café Piano. We are really glad you enjoyed your time with us and that the food was enjoyable. There is just one discrepancy which is slightly misleading. You say you paid £400 for 9 people EXCLUDING drinks which works out that each 3 course meal would have cost £44 on average per head. Even if you had the most expensive dishes on the menu, the most expensive a 3 course meal could cost is £28.90. Was there a discrepancy with your bill? If so, please let us know so we can investigate.

Always plenty to eat, loads of meat and freshly prepared "al dente" vegetables. Made better by the excellent piano playing of modern jazz - not intrusive. Been with family, friends and as a couple.

I have just eaten here for our works Christmas meal. It is actually the third year in a row we have chosen this venue. Lovely food and a good portion size. Very nice small venue and staff. Clean and tidy.
We always love the fact that there is a singer/piano/music at selected times which makes an evening really special. And at the Christmas parties there is always a small disco afterwards.
I have eaten here during the year and the standards are just the same...very nice!
