We often dine here on a Sunday for the roast dinner. It's such great value, all home cooked food! Service is great! My only criticism would be there aren't many potatoes served on the plate, could do with a few more!

Four of us ate here on a Saturday evening, to celebrate my Mum's birthday. Menu choices were good - our party chose starters as follows:
Salmon and Prawn platter
Mussels (massive portion of green-lipped ones, which were apparently delish)
Stilton mushrooms
Goats Cheese tart

Mains:
Nut cutlet
2 x pork tenderloin
Chicken and bacon tagliatelle

All served by lovely staff, but our only real complaint was it all arrived too quickly.....almost as if they were trying to rush us through so they could go home!

The wine list was adequate, not posh restaurant standard but OK for the food on offer.

I would agree with other reviewers about the atmosphere - it does lack a certain something, but then maybe the clue is in the title CAFE Piano - it does have the air of a café about it. A lot of places are quite 'bare' these days with no soft furnishings to soak up the noise, making it quite difficult to have a conversation and Café Piano is a prime example of this style of decor.

The thing which sets this place apart is the music - we enjoyed the very gorgeous Mike Carter who offered us his repertoire of 'crooner classics' followed by some recorded music. He managed to get quite a few of us up and dancing, which adds to the fun of the evening.

In summary, good food, wine and music but slightly lacking in atmosphere.

Although tucked up a not very well signposted courtyard, the restaurant was fairly busy all evening. Food was ok but not terribly inspiring. Old fashioned serving of very undercooked vegetables on a plate for four persons.
What a pity that it is called Piano Bar with a lovely grand piano taking centre stage, that is not played at all. On enquiring was told that it was played on Sunday lunches, very dissapointed.
Staff very attentive and food arrived promptly. Would have preferred a linen napkin as apposed to a cheap paper one.

We went for Sunday lunch with parents and really enjoyed the experience. It was great having live piano music (although it was a little too loud and could benefit from being a little quieter (it was an electric piano)). The service was brilliant until dessert time, when we had to ask to order desserts and they took 15 minutes to come. The food was high quality, with a varied menu and some good specials, which were presented very nicely. Value for money was excellent - £12.95 for three courses! The decor was imaginative and the dining furniture good quality. We'll definitely be coming again.

Everything was spotlessly clean which is good but I felt that the decor was bland and the place lacked atmosphere.
I thought the food was expensive for what it was and pretty mediocre, with small portions. A more interesting menu would have been nice other than the standard and predictable choices of lasagne, steak etc. I feel that £4.95 for a tiny chocolate brownie with cheap pouring cream is a bit of a cheek, you can buy a pack of four just like these in the super market for a pound.
