“Wonderful cottages/beautiful setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2011

I was part of a group from the US that stayed here for a week in early October , 2010 and rented all of the rooms. We all loved our little village, and we cooked all of our meals and ate in the big conference room, where we also had a couple of gatherings each day. The location was walking to the Tor which we did several times. And we loved visiting Gog and Magog, the ancient trees of Avalon, which were a short walk from Mapleleaf Middlewick.
I stayed in Blenheim in the double bedded room, and it has a comfortable bed and a beautiful view from two small windows. I loved it! The bathroom was a good size with up to date facilities. Very nice.
Although we had a very cozy living room, we spent most of our time around the kitchen table chatting and checking emails, and this well stocked kitchen was a delight.
I hope this is the first of many visits for me!

Room Tip: Blenheim is great for two or three

We had a great visit, staying in Bramley Cottage. The house was lovely and clean, with lots of charm. The location is spectacular. The new owners have done a lot to improve the place. The pool if very nice and the grounds were beautiful. We particularly liked the weekly pizza evenings that the owners organise, using their big outdoor wood fired pizza oven. Great fun!

Room Tip: Tor view cottage is great.

We recently took our boys (6 and 8) to stay at Jill Barker's Middlewick Holiday cottages. We stayed in the cosy *Springfield* cottage, which felt like home the minute we got there.
The trampoline, and indoor pool were super-popular, as were all of the toys, games and books in the library...The views were STUNNING, and Jill even took us on an (incredibly) early sun-rise walk up to the Tor (just behind the cottages, amazing! - we all needed a nice afternoon nap...:)
The boys loved playing with the resident Labradoodle Maggie too. (and were enchanted by the 'world's smallest tourist information centre' - in an old red phone box!)
We breakfasted outside in the sunshine (Jill provided a fab breakfastbox for us), the gardens are lovely....And we plan to go back with friends later in the year (we can't wait to try out the Shepherd's cottage) - fab all round! (oh, and the home-made cakes from the local camping-site... yum!)

Room Tip: take a swimsuit, and your walking shoes

We stayed in The Cider House, the views were lovely. Being able to book the cottage by the night was perfect for us.
We appreciated the guided tour when we first arrived which included the route we could walk into town following the footpath through an old orchard and past some farms.
The swimming pool was lovely and warm. We had the pool to ourselves most of the time we were using it.
The garden to the rear of the buildings was very quiet, just the sound of the birds.
We were going to use the BBQ but unforunately there was a thunderstorm, we will use that on the next visit.

We had a lovely 5 night stay at MapleLeaf Middlewick Cottages during April 2011. We stayed in Bramble Cottage - a one bed cottage - which was well equipped and comfortable. The kitchen had a dining table, stable door and views over the central courtyard. The lounge/sitting room had a large inglenook fireplace with a faux wood-burner (electric) and access to the quiet garden at the rear. Upstairs there was a bright bedroom with a double bed and a separate bathroom with an electric shower over the bath.

We really wanted to get away from it and relax on this holiday and that is exactly what we got. It is a quiet complex in a rural location with a friendly owner and manager. The indoor swimming pool was warm and very clean so we swam every day. We also had a massage treatment in the little cabin which was excellent. We spent the rest of our time relaxing in the garden drawing and painting, watching/listening to the birds, walking to the Tor/Glastonbury, visiting Wells (6 miles away approx) and relaxing in the sunshine.

There are walks to the Tor and the countryside right from the doorstep and there is a central BBQ area in the large garden. A steam room, washing machine and tumble dryer are available too in the swimming pool building. All in all a great holiday. We were interested to hear that the new owner is going to revamp the cottages and we look forward to returning in future years!

I stayed a couple of nights in the Appletree cottage. It was lovely, nice and clean bedlinen and towels. Felt at home straight away. The owner is super friendly as all the people I have met there. One of my favorite : Maggie, the owner's dog who showed me the way to the famous Tor. We went on a long walk, great fun !
must mention as well the indoor swimming pool, well heated and again very clean ! what a joy !
The cottages are not far from Glastonbury which is so special. I strongly recommend the breakfast at Hundred Monkeys !
I can not wait to go back to MappleLeaf Middlewick, great service ! great location ! Perfect for relaxation....and very good value !

I stayed at Middlewick Cottages in October 2010, for 4 days and had a wonderful time at the cottages and also in the area.
A friend and I stayed in the Canada Cabin and enjoyed this one bedroom wood cabin thoroughly. The furnishings were comfortable, with ample room and space and the wood fireplace ensured we were toasty and cosy in the evenings. The housekeeping was excellent and the staff were friendly and knowledgable about the area with excellent suggestions of things to do in the area.
Highlights of the stay were the excellent view of the Tor from the Canada Cottage- a real treat to see while enjoying a glass of wine in the late afternoon sitting in the lovely garden area- and the access to all the walking trails that left right from the cabin. We were invited to pick our own apples from the orchard and even collected some walnuts and hazelnuts from the trees on the property- delicious!
The Cabin was right next door to the heated pool and every morning we went for a lovely swim before heading to the great town of Glastonbury for an excellent breakfast and coffee at the 3 Monkeys Bakery.
The property also allowed my friend's dog to stay in the Cabin with us and so we all enjoyed a wonderful stay at Middlewick.
The location of the property was ideal for exploration of the fascinating area of Glastonbury, following the King Arthur trail, and also enjoying the nearby towns of Wells and Wokey Caves, which produce the most incredible cheedar cheese I have ever tasted.
A trip to the Clarke factory, and now outlet mall was a fun afternoon with many well priced purchases as a reward for our efforts.

Room Tip: Bring swimsuits to enjoy the pool.
