Description: Do you remember how good Fish & Chips used to taste? Well they still do - here! The same family has been serving Fish & Chips in this shop since 1909 - It is a Somerst Institution! AND you can have Wine, Beer or Cider with your Chips as they have a licence, AND you can sit down and eat it there in the shop, as its also a waited service restaurant! (booking highly advised for Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays!) We are probably the oldest established fish and chip restaurant in the UK that has remained in the family through out its existence, as well as being the oldest established business in Glastonbury. We have the finest quality cod, haddock and plaice available, delivered daily from British ports, not to mention tons of Cambridgeshire potatoes prepared on site throughtout the year. Apart from our takeaway section, we have a maximum seating capacity of 82, including 12 in our courtyard area. We are also noted for our home-made fish cakes prepared on the premises every day. For the carnivore, pork faggots which are made especially for us by a local butcher. We have sausages and a selection of pasties and pies by a renowned producer, and a selection of chicken choices - Stacking Burgers, Jacket Potatoes and various Meat free options. We have a massive Restaurant menu that has various best sellers, lighter meals, kids choices, sharers, starters and lots of extras! We have a drinks licence and offer a modest selection of favourite wines, draught and bottled beers and local ciders such as Wilkins farmhouse cider & Hecks farmhouse cider.

Best fish and chips I have experienced in England. We went in late in the day and so were the only people sitting in the restaurant part and hence got exceptional table service as we were the only people being waited on. Will return on my next trip to Glanstonbury without a shadow of a doubt!

We had just arrived in Glasto after a foul and very long journey along the A303 and wanted some easy, good quality and quick "comfort" food. This place hit the spot. Excellent flavour fish (cod and haddock), good portions and fried in very fresh oil so the batter tasted "clean" and chips were crisp and golden. We chose to eat in the restaurant section and table service was fine. They have a licence so alcoholic drinks are available. My wife would have liked fresh mayo but tbh, anything other than the plastic sachets would have been preferable. Based on what we saw on our visit, they have enough thruput in the restaurant to be able to offer heinz jars of tomato ketchup and bowls of mayo rather than catering sachets. That's our only gripe to what was otherwise really good quality F&C.

Sometimes you just want a nice plate of chips and a quiet place to chill out. This is the place. Good basic food, good basic prices, good basic service.

First a word of warning! They only do gluten free on Thursdays. Fortunately I was able to go back on a Thursday to sample it. The batter was good and the chips were lovely, with a generous portion. The only let down was that the fish was a little bit overcooked. It was a bit on the dear side as well. I also wasn't offered gluten free vinegar as I have been in other places. The chap doing the frying was very friendly though and it was a nice little restaurant.
