We had originally booked to stay in Little Upton Threshing Barn (which we were over the moon with anyway as we had stayed there 2 years before and had been amazed at how good it was). There was a problem with the hot tub before we arrived so Gill upgraded us to Pictureworks with no extra charge. We were all completely blown away with this house, it is perfect and exactly as pictured (maybe even better). Hot tub and steam room/sauna is cleaned every night and are pristine. The garden is huge and so much room for activities and games (many are there already: pool table, foosball table, ping pong, basketball, board games). Gill was absolutely lovely and even baked us a cake for our arrival (which was delicious). 20 mins walk to the Devonshire Arms which again was incredible (one of the best Sunday roasts we've all had), other than that it's a really peaceful countryside village. The garden is not over looked and there is a shared pool which was great fun too. The house itself is absolutely huge with great sized bedrooms, loads of bathrooms I can't even count how many, and the communal spaces are massive too so plenty of room for everyone to hang out in the same place at the same time. The house was also really sound proof so when we were listening to music late at night you couldn't hear it with the doors shut which was nice not to have to worry about disturbing the neighbours. I wouldn't hesitant in booking any of Gill's properties in the future. It would work well for groups of friends, families, young kids, couples, hen parties, literally everybody. Our group of friends hire a house every summer and both of Gills are the best we've ever stayed in by a long way (Pictureworks taking the top spot). HIGHLY recommend.
Really large, well furnished family space. Lots to keep the children occupied. Lovely peaceful location with plenty of grounds for running around in. Lots of nice treats for the grown ups too, with the spa being a real hit to both young and old.
The music system was brilliant and easy to operate, as was the sauna etc.
A really good stocked kitchen, with enough crockery, mugs and glasses etc to keep our party of 12 going.
Would certainly return should the opportunity arise!
First off, I don't think the site does the ATTACHED private spa its justice.... for this strung out mum and bridesmaid to be it was heaven! Coupled with the hot tub, spacious areas for dining and general merriment (and of course hen-partying) we all felt that we didn't need to leave The Works to enjoy the local area. It had everything we needed.
It was beautifully clean with decent comfy beds and linen, but I would've opted for the 'spa package' which offered guests extra towels and robes had I realized how much time we would spend lolling around.
The local area is really picturesque, but quite sleepy, so if you're looking for an area for clubbing etc with your girlfriends, this ain't it. However, this is perfect for R&R and spending time with some good company,
I'd highly recommend visiting Harry's Cider for a spot of tasting just a few minutes walk up the road.
What a wonderful place to stay. The sauna and steam room were lovely, hot tub was ace and the bucket shower was a unique touch! Will definitely visit again!
I was left the difficult task of arranging a hen do for my best friend. After hours of searching the internet for a place with a difference who would accommodate 15 girls I came across the pictureworks house and spa.
My self and the girls were so pleased with the house. It was clean tidy and very modern with an industrial twist decor
All rooms were unique spacious and beds very comfortable.
The spa facilities were amazing the outside being a favourite among the girls.
There was plenty of space for hosting food and space to dance around in when using the build in music system.
Gill the owner was always, very accommodating easy to talk to and quick to response to any questions and even made us a lovely cake on arrival.
Only down side was I couldn't stop longer.
Lying In the hot tub in the beautiful countryside!!!
A group of 12 of us stayed here to celebrate my 25th birthday and it was fantastic. We even arrived to find a lovely fruit cake waiting for us!
The property easily housed all 12 of us, each sharing a room for 2 (made up as a superking or twin room by request), with a spacious living, kitchen, and dining area.
There is a decent amount of cooking equipment, and we only found ourselves wanting a few things (a decent corkscrew and full headed whisk, for example). You'll have access to 2 fridges, a freezer, and 2 dishwashers too - very handy for a large group!
Regarding the spa, you have access to a steam room, sauna, ice bucket and hot tub until 11pm every night, when it's locked up until morning.
We went in February when it was very cold and the shared pool was closed, but for Summer there is also ample space outside, with a ping pong table and basketball hoop. There are also a few card and board games to look through for entertainment, and an excellent sound system.
All in all, it was wonderful and I would definitely recommend!
I've just spent a long weekend with friends celebrating a big birthday and couldn't have asked for a better setting. The pictures on the website don't do this property justice. It's big and airy, well designed and private and a lot more luxe. There's everything you need and the Sonos, pool table and fusball were great fun. We cooked a huge roast in the well designed kitchen, danced in the large open plan living room all night. I didn't know if we would use the hot tub and spa at this time of year, but we couldn't keep out of it. Watching the sun set and the moon rise on a clear, chilly night from the hot tub is one of the highlights of the weekend. The owners were very helpful, but never in-your-face, and offered great recommendations for local pubs and restaurants and the surrounding area. I'm so pleased that we found this great place.
