“A wonderful devotion by one person”
Reviewed September 21, 2011

A truly wonderful exhibition of dolls and toys through the last century. Its a shame that the number of volunteer helpers has dwindled as we were not able to go in this year (September 2011) and were sorry to have missed the amazing displays.

“Facinating and amazing”
Reviewed July 31, 2011

The Doll Museum in Dunster is a really unusual and fascinating little museum of hundreds of dolls of all sizes, shapes and colours collected through the ages. There are also costume dolls, puppets, tea sets, hand made houses and the usual things that go with dolls as well as novelty dolls. Things you haven't seen before and some that will bring back memories.
It is beautifully laid out with an interesting history of how it came to be.
There are so many that it really requires more than one visit to take it all in.
I have been more than once because the displays change every year, only a proportion of the collection are on display at any one time. This is no problem as it is free, just asking for donations if you would, to help with the running costs. It is staffed by volunteers from the village.
It is open Easter to September and housed on the top floor of the village hall in the centre of Dunster. It is an oasis of peace after the busy High Street.
There is a stair lift that can take someone with mobility problems up the old oak stairs but you will need to negotiate some cobbles and a couple of steps into the hall.
