The caves are just wonderful. The Gorge is awe inspiring even if a care needs to be taken because of possible rockfall.I believe that a herd of wild goats has been introduced to the gorge.

I have been here many times over the past 50 years. It has always been a favourite place. I suppose in this day and age where scarey rides are the norm for a day out this place can seem quite tame.

But it is natural and not something you are likely to come across a lot. Yes you have to make the effort to look and see the beauty of this place. Both caves are amazing especially when they have a story to tell and the audios telling you what to look out for.

Someone mentioned the shops were tacky, I would suggest they are reasonably priced and great for the kids, not the usual over the top prices that some resorts think they can get away with.

Particularly good is the leather goods shop, where you can pick up a bargain in leather wallets, purses, handbags etc.

Cheese place is very entertaining and it also shows you about how the cider is made there. None of your synthetic magners rubbish here, it is made from pure apples without the addition of any chemicals which most commercial cider producers add.

If you are taking the all -in tour which includes bus ride, which is pretty amazing, jacobs ladder( 274 steps ,kids love it and adults puff their way up) with amazing views of the Mendips, the 2 caves, and a small musuem. It can be quite expensive day out for a family of 4 ( but not in comparision with a theme park)

But the good news is now that you can use your tesco vouchers for this one. And you don't have to use your ticket all in one day, you have to use it within the year.

One tip, don't bother buying on-line to save queuing up, you still have to queue up when you get there to pick up the tickets.

Also there is a rather good pub ,White Hart there for a meal ,as I usually find restaurants at all places like this no better than a works canteen.

What can I say about this, do not dream of places like this, you have to experience it, once bitten, you will go back, just in case you missed something

I'm glad we went out of season because I think the Gorge and Caves would get quite busy in the summer months!

We didn't pay to see the Caves, but you can still have a great day out walking around the amazing scenery. It's a bit touristy, but worth visiting for the Gorge alone.
