“The place to go for meat pies”
Reviewed July 11, 2014

I'd been in England for 10 days and hadn't had a meat pie; time was running out because we left for Amsterdam the next day. After checking every menu in Bath I finally just went back to my B&B for advice and the innkeepers (Three Abbey Green) sent me here. It has eight different meat pies on the menu in a traditional pub setting (a little too traditional for a family -- there is upstairs seating). The pie pastry was perfect . The meat and ale pie was excellent, as was the red wine gravy for the mashed potatoes. The chicken pie was a tad dry. Excellent choice for this type of food, and apparently the only one in town during the summer.

Came here some time ago but I still remember that The Raven is a proper Pub serving good beer and pies. Hopefully I'll go back there someday soon

“If only the service came with a smile”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

The food and ale at the Raven are quite good, but the service is sullen and perfunctory. It seems to be an imposition on the barman to serve the food.

“First class pub”
Reviewed July 1, 2014

First trip to Bath and, encouraged by the reviews, tried The Raven for lunch. Good atmosphere, popular and a comfortable décor. Clearly one must try the pies so I went with the beef pie and it fully lived up to expectations. She tried the coarse pate and was equally pleased. Good value, great food, a traditional pub - what more could a couple ask for?

“Great pub, great beer”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

A really good selection of beer at this pub. The pie and mash is to be recommended too. Good location, being central but off the main tourist roads so not too busy.
