“Friendly Family Business”
Reviewed April 27, 2014

Ideally located in the centre of Bath, this family run bistro deservedly ranks high on TA. My wife and I were intrigued by the small and unusual dishes on the menu, making it possible to try two or three different selections in a similar way to tapas. The food was interesting and nicely cooked. However, the highlight for my wife was the desert menu, as she said; she could have dined out on that alone. The service was good and the staff friendly.

“Excellent”
Reviewed April 26, 2014

The food in Tilly's is inventive, delicately cooked (the fish is always beautiful) and there is a varied and constantly changing menu. The service is personal, friendly and efficient. There's a modesty to this restaurant, yet it is one of the best in Bath, and certainly much better value than others that trumpet their ingredients, style and the provence of their ingredients. Tillys also use local and will tell you about - even show - you the ingredients. Their home-baked sour dough brown bread is enough in itself to merit a visit.
I have been visiting for years: lunches (excellent value), early evening (really cheap for pm dining) and later evening Tapas. It's a real family restaurant - a find.

“Good fresh fish”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

This unpretentious little restaurant is tucked away in a narrow passage between Bath Abbey and the river. We went there for lunch and two of us had Dover sole which was freshly caught and perfectly cooked in butter. The restaurant had four different types of fish on the menu and said that all were fresh that day which, if you like eating fish, is a great incentive to visit Tilleys Bistro. We will certainly go again.

“Lunch in Bath”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

Welcoming atmosphere and had been well recommended. However, service was slow, the white wine was brought to the table not chilled but on rejecting this a well chilled bottle was very quickly found - why should this have happened? Ordered smoked haddock chowder and was disappointed that a fully blended soup appeared with a few sweetcorn kernels and 6 tiny pieces of potato. The pork dish I had was average/good, my husband and brother-in-law chose the chicken in harissa which was not at all good, couldn't even taste it. May try this place again as it had been a favourite with family but wouldn't hurry back.

“Fabulous food”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner while visiting Bath. Thoroughly enjoyed the small plate options as we were able to taste a variety of dishes. The liver pate was especially fabulous. Loved that the menu had gluten free and vegan options - I can't eat lactose so those designations are helpful although it would be even more helpful to add a lactose free designation! My daughter who is a very finicky eater really enjoyed the chicken dish. Overall one of our best meals in Bath.
