These guys were amazing. They started cooking early for us, as we'd just come in from the pouring rain. As a vegan family, we were made really welcome and we didn't have to explain anything about our dietary needs, so there were no awkward moments! And the food was amazing - we had a very competitively priced 2 course meal and they even gave us an extra red rice salad, with pecans, apricots and courgettes. We'll definitely me coming back again and recommending this place to all our other vegan friends. We're also thinking of holding a Bristol Vegans event there.

Looking for tea and cake we popped in here and although I couldn't fault the food we were served, the service was seriously lacking. The waitress asked what we wanted to order and when I asked for the menu was told they don't have one. We both ordered a cream tea, she brought over our tea first and left, then came back with milk and only brown sugar. When I asked for white sugar she disappeared and eventually returned apologising. We also had not been given any cutlery or serviettes. I didn't need to hear about her night out and her technique of vomiting to prevent a hangover. Not very professional or appropriate -disappointing.

Truly appalling service and uninspiring, no frills, retro (but not in a good way) french cooking. I had booked for a weekend lunch at Tilleys on the basis of its TA ranking. However on arriving it was immediately apparent that an extremely small kitchen was struggling to cope with the demands of a restaurant perhaps twice overbooked using the cellar as an overflow (where we were seated despite having made the reservation a good 2 weeks in advance). With the best will in the world the restaurant business plan can only be described as one of maximising covers from passing tourists/rugby goers etc almost at any cost, with a total disregard to the food quality & the diners experience (eg 1 hour 20mins for a main course of a bit of boiled veg & a pork chop etc).

I can only think that with all the tourists in bath Tilleys does not view itself as dependent on repeat business. This opportunistic tourist trap really does stick two fingers up at both the customer & french cooking.

Fortunately our Bath weekend did not end with the extreme low left by the amateurish shambles at Tilleys since we had lunch at Rafaels the following day, & although i was not initially won over by the slightly dated decor, for a comparably priced set lunch the experience was incomparable in every way: quality of food, professionalism, calibre of waiting staff, skill in the kitchen, presentation, attention to detail etc, etc and I would certainly recommend without hesitation.

Been coming here occasionally for many years and am glad it's still as reliable, if not better, than ever. Seriously good food and service. Well done Tilleys.

Never been to Tilleys before, but glad we did. A lunchtime table for 4 on a Friday. Fantastic friendly & attentive staff (but not overbearing) with a lovely menu. Well worth a visit for sure. The only very, very minor thing was we were sitting right by the kitchen which had no door, so we came out smelling a bit like what we had just eaten, but not a massive deal at all. Would definitively go again when next in Bath!
