We have just returned from aweekend christmas shopping in Bath, and were fotunate enough to eat at Tilleys Bistro (which is situated by the Cathederal). The food was superb ,a great selection of French and English Cuisine, the wine list was excellent and both the food and wine were reasonably priced and the quality was faultless. The staff were very friendly, helpful and helped make the evening the sucess it was .If was in Bath again tonight there would be one place i would be heading to eat

We happened across this charming restaurant late on a Sunday night. We were looking for a vegetarian restaurant but the menu posted outside this bistro was too appetizing to pass up. Dave (the chef that came to talk to us after the meal was over) made one of the best wild mushroom risottos I've ever had. The atmosphere was cozy and the staff friendly - made us feel at home. In addition to the veggie fare that we had, there appeared to be a large selection of other dishes from which to choose. This was definitely the best meal we have had on our week of vacation in southern England. A great place to have a leisurely meal with good food and wine.

Tilleys gets good reviews as the food is supposed to be amazing, so re-visited recently for a birthday celebration.Have to say that we were very disappointed. It was very busy and we were crammed onto a small table for our party in a fairly small room even though we had pre-booked.The service was friendly but very slow and we were actually still waiting to order our food after half-an-hour. Without apology, we were informed,by a chef, that several of the dishes were off the menu, including steaks ( it was only 8pm )Some of the starters arrived after an hour and a quarter later also without apology and the only thing to keep us going were drinks (including totally flat cokes), not even any bread to keep us going. The food which eventually arrived varied from ok to really delicious. The patatas bravas I ordered, for instance, was just cubes of boiled potatoes, barely cooked, with a tomato sauce poured over, but the french onion soup which took the longest to arrive was apparently stunning. It was a long dinner and as it was a special occasion we made it fun but it was such a shame it was spoiled by the long wait to eat,and the attitude, especially as I think it was very expensive for what we had.

my brother was married in bath yesterday and had his wedding breakfast at TIlleys .... what a wonderful afternoon..... they have a separate part to the restaurant downstairs which was a lovely personal area to have a meal too celebrate any occasion.... the food was lovely.. all hot and arrived at the same time...i couldn't fault the staff.. very friendly and hospitable.. the head chef even popped to say congratulations and he of course got the round of applause he deserved.....being bath, tilleys is situated up a lovely cobbled side street.. perfect to sit and watch the world go by
My overall review is that as soon as we walked in and felt the warmth and welcome from the staff and the lovely smell of fresh coffee i knew it was going to be a lovely afternoon.. i wasn't disappointed....

Went for a drink/snack, on what was probably the busiest Saturday before Christmas, as the markets were on.
Popped in Tilleys' and it was busy very early on and people continued to come in whilst we were there.
As usual, friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere in the tea-room. Reasonable prices for cakes/scones/pasties and drinks aswell.
So convenient for the markets and shops.
Can't recommend this restaurant enough!
