We came to Bath to celebrate our "20th wedding anniversary, we decided to have a traditional English afternoon tea at the pump rooms precisely because it was something that under any other circumstances we would not do mainly because of the price. Yes, it is expensive but the quality was very good considering they churn out a whole load of these in any given day. The surroundings are superb and there was a trio playing lovely classical music at just the right volume. I really enjoyed it and the staff were very polite and professional too. I would say that if you've taken the time to come to Bath and you are there for a special occasion then you really should take tea in the pump rooms - don't bother tasting the natural warm spring water though - it's vile!
