... we just felt it was a little overpriced. Having said that though, the service was excellent and the ambience lovely. The real (!) pianist played a selection by Ivor Novello and Noel Coward, so musically it was a real treat for us. Definitely a place for a celebratory afternoon tea! A noce touch is that it costs nothing to have a glass of the Pump Room water.

It feels like being take back to times long since past with this lovely tea room. Romantic and atmospheric. Well worth waiting in a queue if need be as it is clearly a popular venue. Excellent cream tea or perhaps add a glass of fizz to make it really special. If they could serve the tea with china cups it would just make it truly special

we were given vouchers for a Champagne tea for Christmas and booked a table for 3.30 on Friday. Having booked, we were whisked past the queue and seated quickly and a glass of champagne each arrived very quickly. Blinis with smoked salmon were tasty and substantial, service was good, cakes and scones fresh, the orange posset, refreshing, lots of darjeeling tea: all very English, very tasty and excellent pianist. lovely setting. it would have got a 5 from me if only other visitors looked a bit smarter: it does detract slightly, but don't let that put you off. At £25 the champagne tea is pricey (and is a lot of food, so it will replace lunch or dinner) but there are plenty of other options so should suit most budgets. Best to book if you're going Monday -Friday: i think you can only queue at weekends

A visit to the room alone is worth it but best experience sitting down and taking tea and refreshments. They do lovely savouries - cheese crumpets with piccalilli for example as well as cakes and pastries.
