“My two adult daughters and I loved Villa Claudia”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2010

My younger daughter and I travelled from the U.S to England to visit my older daughter. We all met up at the train station in Bath and had a great weekend sightseeing, walking, shopping, and eating. Villa Claudia was a beautiful place to stay. We had the triple on the top floor, so we had plenty of privacy for our little reunion. The breakfast was great, Maria was super-friendly and helpful, and we were perfectly comfortable.

We booked 3 rooms in the Villa Claudia as a family weekend get-together (6 adults and 1 child). We had looked online at so many other B&Bs but this one ticked all the boxes. We were not disappointed! The house was nicely decorated and with character. All bedrooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. More importantly, we were made welcome by Maria and Carlo and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were excellent and offered a wide choice for all our tastes (fruit salad, cereal, smoked salmon, full English, etc.). We were able to make use of their off-road parking, and walked into the city each morning and evening. The walk is not too far and having seen other guest houses whilst wandering around, this one was in a much nicer part of the city. It was a pleasure walking through the park or along the famous Great Pulteney St and Pulteney Bridge. Villa Claudia is situated off the main road so it was quiet at night. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this house for a pleasant and homely stay within easy reach of Bath city centre.

We loved our stay at the Villa Claudia. The couple that runs it were very accommodating. We had a beautiful room at the top of the house that fit my husband and I and our 12 year old daughter. We had our own bathroom and a lovely skylight. Breakfast was wonderful. They began with a choice of cereals and a fresh fruit salad. Then they served us eggs, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast, coffee and tea. Our daughter is a vegetarian so she was served vegetarian sausages. We needed to use their computer a few times to book a guide and to check in for our flight. We also had to leave very early on our last morning, too early for breakfast. They gave us a bagged lunch for the road. The hotel is about a 12 minute walk to downtown Bath. We google mapped all of the hotels that had vacancies for our weekend. We were not able to find any hotel vacancies in the center of Bath. Most were at least a 12 minute walk. What made us choose the Villa Claudia over other hotels with similar walking distances? The park. Our walk was around a public park. We thought that was preferrable to walking along a busy street. What would make us return to the Villa Claudia? The fruit salad. It was fantastic, fresh with a large variety of fruit.

An absolute gem, this is what B&B should aspire to, the rooms are spotless, comfortable and tastfully decorated. add to this a genuinley warm welcome from the wonderful Maria and your visit to Bath is off to a good start. A 15 minute amble to the city centre (a couple of mins by cab if raining ). Make sure you indulge in the fruit salad as well as the full English which will set you up for the day.

My girlfirend and I stayed here for two night and had the four poster bedroom.
The house is beautifully clean and well maintained and we were made to feel totally welcome by Maria.
Our room was not ensuite and the bathroom is next to the bedroom on the same landing which has a beautiful claw foot bath in it.
It is ten to fifteen minutes from all that there is to see depending in how quickly you want to walk and the walk is very scenic taking in some very attractive properties.
I was a little dubious about staying in a guest house as I have not done so before but was really pleasantly suprised.... The bed was soooo comfortable and we woke each morning to a great breakfast.
Couldn't have asked for more and would recommend it to anyone :-)

We (1 adult and two teenagers) spent ten days at Villa Claudia, run by a charming couple of British- Italians that have been particularly welcoming, Service was great, location quiet yet centrally located for the city center, public transport and Bath University.
You will appreciate the very best full English breakfast, great cappucinos and fruit salad, and much more. Room and bathroom very clean, beds very comfortable, free wifi, no negatives at all. Hghly recommendable. Maria and Carlo, we'll be back!

I rate cleanliness above all else and this lovely B&B is spotless indeed. Everything you need is provided for, including a small fridge in the room, and the hosts are friendly and helpful. Our four poster room was beautifully decorated and the bathroom, with claw foot bath and powerful shower, was gorgeous.

Parking is a little tight in the small off street space available, and you may be asked to move your vehicle to let someone else out, but that's an unimportant niggle when everything else inside is first rate. Free wi-fi in the room.

Breakfast was fresh and plentiful with everything you could want. We couldn't fault this smashing place in which we had a restful and luxurious short break.

By the way, we ate at the Moon & Sixpence, which was fabulous - and you can't beat the Shoon Cafe right in the middle of town for a great pitstop or light lunch.
