“Wonderful stay at a wonderful city!”
Reviewed June 3, 2009

We stayed 2 nites at Saco Bath recently upon reading reviews from TripAdvisor and we subsequently also booked Saco apt in London which we are absolutely happy with both Saco locations. Saco Bath is centrally located, near the train station, Therma Spa and Roman Bath. The apt is clean, modern and fully eqipped. The staff are wonderful, resourceful and very helpful. Bath is overall a very beautiful town and Saco Bath is certainly a delightful stay for us.

Booked a 2 bedroom and 2 bath apartment based on TripAdvisor reviews. Overall, met the high expectations we had after reading the many reviews. Traveling with spouse (50's) and mother (70's). We had a few problems finding the complex, even using GPS / sat nav, but I think that was due to road work in thr area and marginal street signage.

Unfortunately, when we arrived there was no one at the front desk and the front door was locked. I had to call the SACO reservation local number. Fortunately, I had a cell / mobile phone and was able to phone their main reservation line . Once I call ed the SACO number, they sent a receptionist from the business meeting, taking place in the complex, to meet us. In total it took about 10 minutes but it was very disconcerting, particularly as I was traveling with my wife and mother and we had been driving for some hours. Clearly, SACO need to understand that customer service (someone at teh front desk) must take precedence over company meetings. It was disconcerting but once the receptionist arrived, all went smoothly.

We were assigned an apartment on the lower floor (can't remember the number but it was below grade at front and on grade at back). At first, I was disappointed because it felt like we were in a basement / cellar. But the apartment was spotless, spacious and well-equipped. As well, it was bright in the living areas and quiet in the bedrooms. Beds were comfortable. Included internet service was good.

It was a nice break to be able to relax and make our own meals, even if mostly of prepared foods from M&S.

The location is terrific: ideal for walking in Bath (two blocks to Roman baths). An M&S, one block away, provided a good selection of prepared entrees, desserts and wine.

I thought the lower hallway smelled musty and damp, but I detected no musty or damp smells in the apartment itself.

After spending 8 nights in regular hotels, the SACO apartment was a nice break, in a great location, in a wonderful city.

Parking is in the public garage 5 minutes walk away. I was a bit concerned about vehicle security. But it was actually quite convenient, safe and relatively inexpensive.

I wish to update a previous review given by myself. I have to say our complaints have been acted on most efficiently and I now understand accoustic glass is now installed to ease noise pollution from the pub opposite, and the fire door has now been cushioned to prevent it from slamming. We have also been offered satisfactory compensation.

I must also add all our complaints were dealt with promptly and professionally and perhaps we were just unfortunate that particular weekend. All other reviews are glowing and Saco has acted quickly to ensure guests are happy with their stay.

Stayed one night to attend a wedding party.
Arrival- car park very close, can unload bags etc direct to apartments if necessary, then park. Big smiling welcome from lady in reception.
Apartment- Room 201..Superior Studio. Big room, well furnished, great King size bed, very comfortable. Double glazing prevented noise from the street. Kitchen had fresh milk in the fridge to get the tea going!
Lovely bathroom...
Summing up..this apartment had everything needed for a longer stay...and next time..we will stay longer!

Me and my partner needed to find somewhere to stay in bath for a week & this place was perfect.

We stayed in Apartment #1 on the lower ground floor & it was really nice. Very clean, room really well presented. Big flat screen tv hanging from the wall in the corner of the room, comfy sofa, big stereo system. A well sized kitchen, with everything you could need...even complementary orange juice.

Modern very clean bathroom. Bedroom was really nice also, big tv in there also which i hadnt had in previous apartments. Very soft comfy bed. Perfect place to come back to everyday traveling around the beautiful city of Bath.

There are restaurants/food/shops all around you. We had pizza ordered from two seperate places easily (one place was only 6 doors down), ate in several restaurants, theres a sainsburys & marks and spencers just a walk down the road also. Basically everything you could possibly need. They have maps & info guides on restaurants (there are a lot) in reception so you'll find everything easily. We walked everywhere (Roman baths, Bath Abbey, Pultney bridge & river avon, thermal spa - all barely 5 minute walks)

The staff were also really nice and helpful, we read one night that you could get an xbox at the front desk if you asked for it and they let us have one for a couple nights completely for free !

Both of us fell in love with Bath, its great scenery, amazing views, architecture, street entertainment....all brilliant & Saco is the perfect place to stay to enjoy all of this.

I had stayed in Bath before at the Bath Priory Hotel which was fantastic but this time we wanted somewhere central so the Saco apartments were ideal. They are about a 3 min walk from the Baths and the Abbey. We were given a large 1 bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor. This was much larger than I had expected.
The bathroom (overbath shower) looked relatively new and had small Molton Brown toiletries supplied. The bedroom had a king size bed, flat screen tv and two windows that overlooked the street. The kitchen/sitting area was huge. There was a settee and two arm chairs plus a small circular table with two chairs for dining. The kitchen area had a fan oven, washing machine and dishwasher (tablets provided). The array of cooking equipment meant that one could cook a complete dinner if one wished (I didn't). There was a basket with a small supply of tea and coffee, two croissants, biscuits, and in the fridge milk and butter.

The towels and sheets were of a good quality and overall we felt that the apartments provided a good place to stay which was so central you could walk to all the attractions. There is no parking so we parked at the long stay car park, two minutes walk away. We parked there from about 7p.m. on the Friday night until 9.30a.m. on the Sunday morning. The charge for this was £15 which we thought was reasonable.

The road outside the apartments does tend to be noisy late in the evening as there is a pub opposite but this did not bother us. Overall we felt that it was good value for money and we would recommend the apartments as an alternative to a hotel. It was good on the Saturday afternoon to bring a lovely pastry in, make coffee and relax for an hour or so before going out for dinner.

  • Liked — It is so central to Bath
  • Disliked — It was rather bland and could do with some colourful pictures, cushions etc.
