We recently stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights and we stayed in a recently refurbished room (225). It was a lovely room, very clean and had everything you need except for a clock. I find a lot of hotels omit to put a digital clock in their rooms. I tend to wake up frequently during the night and I like to know what time it is. They can be bought very cheaply so don't understand why most hotels do not provide them. That said we really enjoyed our break. There was a socket for my hair dryer near a big mirror (another thing you don't always get). There was a really good mirror in the bathroom for applying make up too!! The food in the brasserie was excellent and the staff very pleasant and attentive.

We stayed here after a bad drive down the M6 & 5 dropping our daughter off in her digs ready for University. Bailbrook was just right for 2 emotional parents in need of comfort. We arrived just as the restaurant and brasserie was closing but the team rallied round and we ate from the Brasserie menu in the bar. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was a good size and very comfortable. We will return

What a pleasant surprise. We arrive after a gruelling motorway journey with delays,to a very pleasant reception. The main reception is obviously older, but we were shown to our rooms which were very nicely appointed.A good sized room thoroughly modern, well furnished and well decorated with good fittings and spotlessly clean.Pleasant welcoming staff who want to help.
An espresso machine was a bonus together with the tea making facilities, but not the usual minuscule Morphy Richards, with coil cable that takes ten minutes to work,a half decent investment and no rations on the tea and coffee!
Fresh milk in the fridge, not those stupid UHT capsules that you can't open. You get the impression that someone has done some market research on customer niggles.Bathroom with soap bars, not those universal dispensers and bath towels that fit the average person, not some 3ft x 2ft fit all. Also we had a double bed, maybe two twins pushed together, but they had an undercover so that you didn't feel that...attention to detail full marks.Alright,we couldn't work the shower mixer nor the plugs, but who can...the gauntlet is thrown down.
Staff were attentive, pleasant and welcoming. We ate in the bar and had a very good meal..it was freshly cooked and tasted of something.
The breakfast, albeit a buffet affair, but the staff wanted to serve you as opposed to walking around dispensing tea and toast...again,butter on a plate, milk in jugs, cutlery on the table...for once you felt like you were the client and the hotel was offering you a service, rather than you opening packs of butter, forgetting the spoon and getting up yet again. Service at an affordable price in a great location and barely ten minutes drive from central Bath.
Overall a very pleasant experience of paying for what you should get.Well done.

Room Tip: We booked a basic room...so it can only get better

We stumbled across the Bailbrook when organising a last minute hotel in Bath. The hotel is located about 2 miles from the centre - actually ideal of you know how bad Bath traffic is as it is a level, pleasant walk in. The hotel is an old Georgian building with additions and feels newly converted, which it is (it was a management training centre at one time). The staff are consistently superb - from check in to check out, extremely helpful and friendly. This aspect of the hotel really makes it stand out. Our room was in one of the newer annexes - the walk there highlights the 'training centre' heritage of the place. Although well decorated the corridors don't make it feel very premium. The room, however, was excellent - good size, very comfortable and well appointed. There is good attention to detail - fresh milk (not uht) and a pm service comes to the door offering extra water and bathroom items. A great touch. Wr ate in the brasserie, the only real disappointment - food is good, if a bit pricey, but the ambiance was pretty dismal - the restaurant feels like a conference room. But very good staff. Breakfast is served in the same room - very good quality and good staff. Certainly to be recommended, but eat in the Cloisters restaurant rather than the slightly disappointing brasserie.

All the previous reviewers will be glad to hear that the building work is finished and the hotel is looking very nice. The old part of the building has 13 bedrooms that are sold at a higher rate. The mansion house has a bar and a number of cosy sitting rooms, ideals for afternoon tea or reading. The new extension block houses most of the rooms. As annexes go, it's nicely built in traditional Bath yellow sandstone colours. The rooms are a good size with very comfortable beds. The beds have cushion topped mattresses and feather mattress toppers. so can get quite hot. The bathrooms are a fine size and have a motion detector that turns on a blue light for middle of the night loo visits. Breakfast was buffet style with a nice selection of hot and cold foods served in the Annexe. There is a restaurant in the main house that serves breakfast at an extra cost. Service is good and staff are helpful. The big USP for this hotel is parking. As any visitors to Bath will know, parking is difficult and expensive. You can park for free here and take the bus, walk or taxi into the city.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, stay in the main house. The rooms are really lovely.

Stayed here for a Saturday night after a party. Not cheap but neither was anywhere else in town!
The hotel is located on the Eastern edge of Bath - a pleasant 30 minute stroll if you're not in a hurry or a short taxi ride if you are. Don't stay here if arriving by train! It has a fairly ugly (exterior) new wing tacked on to a large Georgian house. Large grounds = plenty of parking. Lots of function rooms which I imagine are popular for weddings etc.
Our room in the new wing was much nicer on the inside. Huge, comfortable bed, nice bathroom with drench shower, big fluffy towels and good toiletries, tea & coffee making, mineral water and magazines. Blackout curtains helped with a good night's sleep.
Staff very attentive in the morning, found us a paper to read over breakfast, although we were each asked the same questions about 4 times. Good selection at breakfast including a very nice omelette cooked to order. Coffee was weak and fried eggs reported to be rubbery.
Too big and impersonal for e.g. a romantic break but very comfortable stay, we would return.

Room Tip: Standard room very comfortable. Lifts in new wing.

We sayed for 2 night last week and it really is a beautiful hotel, newly renovated. We had a basic room (207) overlooking the car park, but it could easily have been a superior room - especially liked the night light that came on in the bathroom so you don't have to put the big light on (nice little touch). Very good tea/coffee supplies and a small fridge with fresh milk. Bed was very comfortable. Reception staff and concierge was great, very welcoming. We only had breakfast, not dinner, but it was a really good selection. We slept really well and didn't find it noisey, but we did stay on a Monday & Tuesday night - can't wait to go back, love it :)
