“Very disappointing”
Reviewed June 15, 2012

We stopped here for a quick lunch last weekend and were very disappointed by our choice which we soon regretted. With so many fantastic places to eat at in Bath, it is amazing that somewhere like this can manage to remain in business.

We looked for a free table in the open courtyard at the rear and had to remove ashtrays, crisp packets, plates and glasses ourselves before we could sit down. Staff seemed distant and very disinterested in cleaning tables. At the bar I ordered a diet coke - they had run out. What pub runs out of diet coke? Instead I ordered a regular coke and this was dispensed from a large 1.5 litre plastic bottle which was half empty. Needless to say it was pretty flat and the barman was completely unapologetic as if this was normal.

The service was without a smile and quite frankly awful and the food itself was below average.

We will not eat or drink here again when there are far better places to dine at within a 2-minute walk. It's a shame as it used to be a good place.

“Skip This Pub”
Reviewed May 31, 2012 via mobile

The sign on the door and Rick Steve's both claim the Crystal Palace has the best fish and chips in Bath. If so, the rest of the restaurants must be horrid. Fish and chips were terrible - greasy, tasteless and served with greasy chips. The pork special also lacked flavor and imagination. The steak and ale pie had great gravey, but the pastry on the pie was too greasy. In fact, we fought over the mash and gravey.
The staff was put out by questions and serving customers.

“Good pub lunch”
Reviewed April 26, 2012

Popped into the Crystal Palace for a pub lunch and a few drinks.

Good selection of wines and beers.

Great fish and chips and a quite an inventive veggie selection which is a rarity for pubs. Nicely decorated and laid out pub, friendly staff and efficient service.

Definitely worth a visit for drinks and lunch.

“Good Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

A nicely decorated, slightly old-fashioned feeling pub in central Bath with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. We stopped here on Sunday for lunch and had a really nice meal.
The portions were huge and the quality pretty good. The price was very reasonable too, although the prices for things not on the Sunday menu seemed a little high.
I'd definitely recommend this place for anyone in Bath for Sunday lunch.
