“Hidden jewel near the river”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

Approach this tiny entrance by crossing Pultney Bridge with the city Center to your back. The restaurant is on your right and down some stairs. You'll be glad that you found it. We shared an 8 oz filet and a starter for lunch and had just enough room for dessert. Excellent service and good food.

“Fantastic hidden gem of a restaurant”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

A bit hard to find on the approach to Pultney Bridge and the ambience is perhaps a little 'cold', more lunch than dinner? but any quibbles in that respect are more than made up for by the quality of the steak. I had the filet and it was equal to ant steak that I have had in the specialist steakhouse in the USA such as Ruths Chris and Mortons. Price was reasonable as well and the service just right; attentive without being overbearing. I would certainly go again when I re-visit Bath.

“Fantastic food”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

I chose this restaurant as a treat for my daughter passing her A levels and getting a uni place. Her favourite is steak and I wanted to treat her to a proper steakhouse experience.
We were not disappointed! The restaurant was quiet for a lunchtime but it is a bit out of the way. It has 2 entrances but the entrance we chose was, we felt, not that well signposted as we walked past it several times before noticing the sign!
The service and the food was excellent. Portion sizes were very good and everything was cooked to order including the fantastic onions rings.
The steaks arrived cooked exactly as requested.
Meal was a bit expensive for an everyday event but for a special occasion or treat well worth the money.
Will defintiely re-visit!

“Lovely steaks”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

We had the Cote de Boeuf, which we had never tried before, to share and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The chips and the Rocket salad were a delicious accompaniment and the whole meal was delicious and memorable. The only criticism of the food was that we had asked for the steak to be cooked medium but it was served a bit on the rare side. We commented about this to the waitress who said that it was because it was a thick cut of meat. However, you would think that a chef in a steak restaurant would know what a medium steak should be like. To be fair, however, the waitress did offer to take it back to the kitchen but we were very hungry and didn't want a further wait. The service was very slow and that was the reason we opted not to have a dessert or more drinks. It was a Saturday night but there were three waitresses on duty and the restaurant wasn't packed out at that time. Overall we thoroughly recommend the steaks here but feel they need to work on improving the service.
