Purpose of visit: Lunch, beer, chat and kill time (we didn'Dit stay here overnight)

This rustic looking pub combines a wonderful old world charm with fantastic food and ales to match. The beer garden is secluded, pretty and petite, with a well kept garden and sturdy, comfortable outdoor tables.

The portions were generous, and not at the expense of taste or quality.

We ordered the beef burger and a Ham salad and matched it with a locally brewed ale "Bellringer".

Starting with the burger, the meat was thick, tender and juicy - pefect and came all the usual trimmings (cheese, pickle, salad etc.). Came with traditional hand cut chips (these were thick and randomly cut, really looked like they were hand cut in house) which were served golden and crispy with a nice fluffy texture in the middle.

The ham salad was picture perfect (see picture). Thick juicy slices of ham with garden salad on the side and a good helping creamy potato salad.

This place is perfect for the man who has a few hours to spend while the wife/girlfriend/partner is off getting a spa treatement!

Service was fantastic and the staff very friendly, just watch out on the time because lunche is served strictly between 12 and 2pm

Much like the last reviewer, happened upon this pub for a Sunday lunch. Really, really enjoyed it - the service was lovely and friendly, the food was great and the portions were enormous. Great value.

Also, lots of little snugs to sit in. And final bonus - loads of board games and books/magazines/papers. This would be a perfect pub to while away the afternoon in.

Didn't realise they did accommodation but will definitely check this place out the next time I'm in Bath.
