We'd booked lunch for 2pm and the restaurant was still really busy with lunches, but our orders were taken almost at once and service was speedy too. Menu has a wide variety of snacks and mains and the house wine is good. I choice the sea bass on crushed potato, which arrived looking a bit basic but tasted very good indeed. Staff were attentive without being intrusive and overall the ambience ~ bustling but convivial ~ was very pleasant. A good place to meet and eat, I'd go again.

We went to Carluccio's in Bath on Sunday morning for breakfast.

Poached eggs, pancetta, mushrooms and tomatoes on Italian home baked bread. The breakfast was good, the coffee was ok. The service was excellent.

A good safe bet.

We also bought a few bits from the deli!

the food was of good quality but the menu was unexciting and the plate had exactly what you asked for. There were no frills and you didn't leave thinking you really ought to come back here for a treat or for a std. lunch. Staff were polite and on a chilly Thursday April evening the place was one quarter full, yet all the tables outside had cutlery and napkins laid-out! Seems like they have their priorities wrong - do what needs to be done, give us something more interesting. As other reviewers have noted, there are plenty of Italians in Bath not least Jamie's adjacent

Carluccio conjures up so much Italian atmosphere that delivering that expectation is always going to be difficult. A good atmosphere in the restaurant and well suited to couples or families with children.

On this occasion ( early evening) the restaurant was full and was additionally blessed with youngsters who were experienced diners creating a typical Italian family gathering. The children on at least two of the tables were impeccably behaved and that they were in the 4 to 7 year age range.

Children's menus are simple and well suited to most children's tastes. Adult menus offer typically anglicised Italian ranges of starters, pasta , fish and meat dishes plus puddings. The food was filling and enjoyable although perhaps too simplistic in part. The liver dish for example was simply liver with rosemary sautéed potatoes and a small portion of red onion jam. This needs to be supplemented with at least a side salad to provide additional variety and was in our case as prompted by the waitress.

On the evening our visit the Hors d'oeuvres, Puglian olives ( chosen for their usually the soft and fleshy taste )were found to be extremely hard and not at all ripe.

The house Merlot was quaffable and suited the occasion although it initially seemed to have a slightly tainted bouquet.

A pleasant and acceptable night out but there are probably better Italian styled eateries in Bath.
