Centrally located and accessed through the Abbey Hotel, this is a bright, airy, contemporary restaurant decorated with modern artwork. The food is original and well executed. The service was faultless. Whilst I would be happy to revisit the restaurant as it was an enjoyable experience, I found the food to be a little too fussy with too many competing flavours on the plate, where the chef had perhaps tried a little too hard. The Prix Fixe menu is however excellent value.

“Excellent and great value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013

Just had Sunday lunch and this really is a gem. The food was excellently cooked and very tasty. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Have to say that Bath has plenty of good restaurants and this ranks amongst the top. Good honest and tasty grub. The roast beef was delicious and melted in the mouth and the carrots with allspice was an interesting combination. Lovely roast potatoes and a generous Yorkshire. The wine list is economically priced and the Argentinian Malbec at £21 is highly recommended.

Pity they didn't have the fire going in the restaurant obviously caught out by the cold spell we are having. Nonetheless the warm atmosphere kept us going!

“6 th visit”

There is a massive amount of choice currently in Bath and it is quite a competitive situation. We are yet to find an establishment to dislodge the Allium from our No 1 spot. A birthday lunch today for 6 was excellent. Service first class, friendly and efficient. White onion soup so tasty ! Sirloin good and a brilliant interpretation of the french classic "ile flottante".
We've booked again !!

“What a find!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2013

My goodness, what a surprise! Sometimes, restaurants that are in hotels are not always too pleasing but Allium puts to rest this old Shibboleth. We started with the soup and the brisket and followed with the hake and mackerel. The presentation on all courses was truly remarkable and while that is always encouraging, we go to restaurants to enjoy great tastes and satisfying foods, presented in a tempting way. Allium exceeded on all fronts and expectations, including the table staff - attentive and pleasant, but not intrusive. The wine list provided really quite exceptional value for money but above the food and the presentation, what really amazed is that they can deliver this for just 15 quid per person for two course, drinks of course excepted. Get it while you can - if you like quality and great presentation for a great price, this should please you.
