“Superb value, great service, loved it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

We ate here with a family group, and as we walked back to our hotel everyone agreed they had a great meal. I mentioned our youngest daughter when booking, but they were able to accomodate her with no problem as the other menus are a little challenging for most 7 year olds. Her food was MUCH better quality than the rubbish some places serve to children, which was a very pleasant surprise.

We ate early due to our youngest so picked from the set menu, which was fabulous value. Even early in the evening, the restaurant had a buzzy atmosphere, it's clearly very popular with locals, and the level of cooking and service is excellent.

We'd happily eat here again next time we are in Bath.

“Repeat visits”

It just gets better. Get in before the Micheline stars arrive and reservations become hard.
Best in Bath at the current prices.
Congratulations to the private couple who had the guts to set this up. Well done.

“Wonderful and Inventive Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

I visited Allium on Mother's Day with my parents and the food was amazing. We were seated before 7pm so ate off the set menu which was a great deal! Every single item of food was perfectly balanced and each mouthful had such a depth of flavour. Considering it was a set menu the potions were still a great size, which is rare for a set menu of this quality. All the food tasted fresh and was cooked to perfection.
I would recommend Allium to anyone that will listen and look forward to going back very soon!

“A great place with excellent food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

We dined at 6 pm during the Bath Literature festival- it was really helpful to be able to eat between events. Allium are the official Hotel Partner of the festival; good to keep the profile up and another reason to support Allium.
we chose from the early bird fixed price menu- (until 7 pm ) which had a fair selection of dishes.
The staff were attentive, enthusiastic and helpful and our food arrived in good time so we were able to eat in a relaxed way and still make our 8pm event .
The salted beetroot and goats cheese dish was stunningly arranged and a great improvement on the usual goats cheese starters.wonderful fresh sourdough brown bread on the side with more offered at no cost. My Plaice was perfectly cooked ,as was my husband's chicken and everything was beautiful to look at and tasty. We chose a rose wine from great western wines. The restaurant was busy , but we were made welcome.
Although the lighting was turned down at about 6.30 it was still possible to see our food and the menu- Allium DO NOT turn the lights down any more especially for early diners please. - this annoying habit of having poor illumination in restaurants is very irksome especially for diners over 60 when one becomes very sensitive to low light levels and it is not much fun when you can't see the the food properly!
Allium is a great restaurant for all diners, groups and locals so go and give it your custom- they deserve to succeed. .

“One of Bath's best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2013

I have to admit that I probably would have walked past Allium Brasserie had I not read Jay Rayner's review.
I'm so glad I read it as I consider Allium to be, not only one of Bath's best restaurants but also, one of its most innovative, imaginative and exciting with regard to it's menu and culinary exploration. Chef Chris Staines has designed a versatile and friendly menu which allows for steak and chips (very good ribeye) but also travels to more unusual flavour combinations such as miso cured salmon with grapefruit- delicious!
Great atmosphere in the dining room, whether busy or quiet. Helpful, informative staff, who offer excellent service without being over zealous. Prices are more than reasonable, especially for this standard of food and there are frequent lunch offers, early dinner prices (pre 7pm) and events.
No downsides for me at all at this restaurant and as a self-professed black pudding hater I can now add Allium's Pork Belly with Spiced Black Pudding to my favourites list!
