Owner description: Thermae Bath Spa is Britain's only natural thermal Spa and benefits from the warm, mineral-rich waters which the Celts and Romans enjoyed over 2,000 years ago. Located in the heart of the World Heritage city of Bath, Thermae is a remarkable combination of five historic buildings and the contemporary architecture of the New Royal Bath. Highlights include the open-air rooftop pool with wonderful views over the city of Bath, the flowing curves of the Minerva Bath, the multi-sensory Wellness Suite and a choice of over 50 spa treatments and packages.

Went here with three friends at the end of a weekend in Bath. We arrived about midday on Sunday and, although there was a queue, it move pretty quickly. The facilities are lovely and the whole place is kept very clean. It was quite busy, but there was still plenty of room, even in the rooftop pool. It is quite expensive and two hours was definitely enough. The restaurant was really quiet when we walked by it and looked a nice place to go. The staff at the spa were friendly and helpful (although when we called in the weeks before to ask about booking, the staff were less than helpful).

To be fair we went for a 2 hour session on a hot July Saturday afternoon so it was extremely busy and the staff just could not cope with the number of people. Waited an hour for our lunch in the restaurant which meant we lost most of our spa time.
The rooftop pool is quite special, warm and with great views, but you are basically paying a lot of money to use a public swimming pool. The changing rooms are very cramped and the shower facilties are on the floor below.
I would recommend going during the week if possible to be able to make the most of the experience.

While spending a few days in Bath, recovering from jet lag, we treated ourselves to the Twilight Spa Package at the Thermae Bath Spa. We have been to many spas, and this was very different from any of the others. The website portrays a romantic roof-top spa, looking over the steeples and historic buildings of Bath--a solitary couple in the pool at sunset. There was a roof-top spa, and indeed it was lovely, but it was not at all romantic on the night we were there. The pool was filled with boisterous young women--probably a bachelorette party, and it was pouring down rain! The entire spa experience was unique--several floors with large pools and bubbling fountains (more like a water park than a spa)--and steam rooms with various aromatherapy scents. However, even tho it wasn't the relaxing serene experience we had anticipated, it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and relaxing in its own way. The package included dinner, and we weren't really expecting much from a spa menu, but in fact it was a very satisfying meal chosen from a limited but excellent menu. It wasn't what we were expecting, but we enjoyed our spa evening and would recommend it.

The rooftop pool offers a lovely view of the abbey and the steam rooms are very relaxing and space-age style. The staff are friendly and the key/ bracelet system is very clever. I felt really cleansed and invigorated afterwards. Tip: we went at about 10am, so it wasn't too busy or too hot on the roof. The two hour session was perfectly long enough.
