Me and my best friend stayed here for the night as we wanted a night out in Bath and a cheap room to come back to.
It does what it says on the tin really.. we stayed in an en suit with bunkbeds. It was very basic but the beds were comfy and clean, bathroom could have done with abit more cleaning but all in all was a pleasent stay. All i will say is the walls are very thin so be aware of noise at night.
Also if you happen to be driving to this place the parking is awful!!!!!! It took us at least half hr to find a parking space, there is no parking allowed on site so you have to over the road. On a busy day its a nightmare.
If you are heading into the city the walk down is very nice, the walk back up however is not for the faint hearted. The uni buses run regularly from the bus stop across the road, but are oftern very very busy.
The staff were all very helpful and gave use good tips on the best bars and clubs to hit up for the night.

This wonderful old house has charm in the common areas, but rooms are basic hostel fair. Some dorms/family rooms have en suite, which is nice, but showers/toilet are stark. The staff are very helpful and the breakfast is quite nice as is the dining room. It appears that the rooms in the main house are perhaps better than those in the annex. The grounds are very peaceful and the bus commute to the center of town is not a problem at all. Overall, a good value in a great city.

Visited YHA Bath with a friend for 4 nights in June and we weren't sure what to expect having not stayed in a hostel before. The room was basic but all linen was clean and the room was adequate for us. Wetroom was a quite like one in a caravan but again, adequate as we were out every day sightseeing.
Brand new toilets and showers on 1st floor whuch are slightly more spacious.
Communal rooms were a lounge with large tv, sofas, coffee table, books and board games, dining room, self catering kitchen with its own dining are and a small lounge-like foyer area between kitchen and dining room. Plenty of places to chill out, meet new people etc.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomato, scrambled egg and toast with the extras of continental being croissants, mini packs of cheese, fruit bowl and sluces of ham. Cereals were also provided. Fair at £4.95.
No parking on site so had to park on steep hill on which the hostel is built (leave in gear!) not a bad walk into city centre, a couple of miles and downhill. Uphill however, phew! Very steep! Tesco express near bottom of hill which is handy. Regular buses serve the hill to city centre (18 and U18, a return is only valid on the same bus back, as they are run by different companies)
Back to the hostel, we had a twin room with bunk beds, overlooking the lodge and the hills in the distance.
I'm sure you could do a lot worse that this place. It's not The Ritz but for the price it's good.

Booked a en-suite room with 3 friends. Great location for visiting Bath - steep hill ok for us plus there are regular buses. Service was friendly. Room was ok - bit damp. Beds were clean. En-suite toilet and basin were dirty - couldn't have cleaned them after last guests. Shower dripped all the time and echoed during night so had to bodge something to make it less noisy.Thin walls made it very nosiy with people using adjacent toilets/showers. Breakfast was ok for the money although friend had dead mozzie in their bacon !!

My sister and I spent three nights her in the female dorms. The building is old, but is really beautiful on the outside. They have a nice picnic table area outside, very grassy. Yes, the bathrooms are dirty, but they were renovating some of them while we were there. Everyone at the front desk is very nice and helpful. The dorm room itself was clean, as were the beds.

It is a bit of a walk to downtown, about 20 minutes but not bad without bags. I recommend taking the U18 bus up to the hostel your first time, it's a very steep hill and it sucks with backpacks. Walking into town for the Baths and such isn't bad as long as you're not carrying your luggage.

We visited this place during our roadtrip through England in May 2012.

We booked a twin room with shared bathroom and thankfully our room came with an en suite - well it was way to small to call it a bathroom...a smallrrom with a toilet and a shower cap.

Room was tiny, next to the bunk bed was a narrow space and that's it. It was clean.

I think charging Ł5 for wifi is outrageous. Receptionists were okay!

Don't be fooled by the lovely picture of the Bath YHA. Another case of not judging a book by its cover. I was so disappointed with this hostel, after traveling around the UK using mostly Youth Hostels, this one was by far the worst. I was travelling with my husband and 2 children and at 11pm at night was seriously considering going to a motel. The room smelt badly of wet carpet. There was mould on the bedroom walls. The curtains were ragged and bedroom door could not be locked from the inside. The self catering area, essential in a Youth Hostel, was filthy. The cupboards were dirty and the garbages were overflowing and this was first thing in the morning. The floors were dirty with food scaps and sadly some of the other guests lowered their standards to match. This place was more like a back packers, and not up to the usual reliable standard of YHA.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the Annex area. Perhaps the main building may be better, but I doubt it.
