Owner description: The Little Theatre Cinema was built by community theatre pioneer Consuelo de Reyes and her husband in 1935. It initially functioned as a news theatre open from midday and showing hourly programmes of documentaries and newsreels. Feature films were first shown in 1939, the first two being "Peg of Old Drury" starring Anna Neagle followed by "Oh Mr Porter" starring Will Hay. The cinema thrived on local support throughout the years as other Bath cinema venues closed and in 1979 the former scenery store and lounge area were converted into a second screen. In spite of many refurbishments to keep the cinema up-to-date with digital sound and the latest projection technology, and a renewal of the seats to give the very best comfort levels, The Little Theatre has retained the charm and welcoming warmth of a 1930's cinema, including a luxury balcony with sofas in the main auditorium.

I saw The Hobbit in December 2012 in this preserved little gem of a cinema. Small, intimate and a step back in time to what seeing a film used to be like !

This is a cinema for people who love film.
The Little always has a brilliant selection and show a wide variety of screenings, its the place to be for World cinema fans. There is a superior offering of snacks at The Little including Marshfield ice cream and fairtrade cola. In the main screen there is also Haile Selassie's balcony with comfy leather sofas, just something special for those films you've been waiting for.

This cinema is always my first choice, support the independents!

Been here a few times and I've always enjoyed myself- and not just because of the movie. I love this cinema as it is so quaint and friendly, you cannot beat its' atmosphere. Does not compare to any cinema chain!

A cinema that isn't just a front for rip-off popcorn pushing - how refreshing. Plus all the trimmings - friendly intelligent staff and a good selection of both mainstream and independent film. Love it,

Excellent seating. They show films you dont always see at the multiplexs. My husband and I have been members for the last three years, we get free tickets and reduced prices for films so is very worth while. A lovely cinema in the heart of Bath.
