We got about 5 or 6 of the tapas style dishes and where given a big bowl of very fresh warm baguette pieces - great for dipping in all the sauces!

It didn't look like much food to fill us both, but eating is slowly with a jug of sangria was an amazing afternoon! So much flavour and although most restaurant food gives me a sore stomach, this was easy to digest and I didn't feel sluggish.

We got the piri piri, some marinaded potatoes, stuffed peppers, chorizo and meat skewers.

There were lots of spanish/portugese people eating there as well.

The chef and owner - a woman who intoduced herself as 'mama' came up to ask if we liked the food. Her son was great and talked us into the sangria - we didn't realise how expensive it was until after (£17+) - but even so, the entire experience was less than £40 for two

It is in a prime location, though the sign is subtle so you can miss it

Chic modern decor, but the tables are very close together. Would be a great place for a celebration meal

A very friendly restaurant with good value food and my gin martini was excellent. Convenient for pre and post theatre meals at Theatre Royal.

Another couple, my wife and I were in Bath at the start of a 10-day trip around the UK and had a great dinner at Portucale! The relaxed setting and Antonio's welcoming style were what we needed as we started to unwind and prepare for a vacation. Its hard to separate whether it was the aura of our first dinner together as two couples on vacation or the restaurant , drinks, etc. but we all had a great time. The small plates (it is tapas) of seafoood, meat and other wonders were great. Flavorful, well prepared, spicy and savory. Each plate was better than the prior one. While at times Antonio was a bit overwhelmed, the service was always with a smile. We learned that ANtonio's Mom is the chef and the home cooking and love in each dish shone through. Then came dessert and the best chocolate mousse I have ever had! Rich, smooth, and something else - brandy perhaps?! It was literally dish licking good. We asked for Moma to come upstairs so that we could toast her wonderful work and she did. A standing ovation for a great meal and lovely start to our vacation. High recommendation!

I had a feeling the moment that I rang up to book a table for eight people and was told by the lady who answered the phone that she would be delighted to cook for my friends and me, that it was going to be a good evening. This is mother and son run restaurant and bar. We allowed our host to choose a selection of small dishes to share between us. The food was delicious as was the recommended wine. This is well worth a visit.
