We came to Bath for the day. I have many happy child hood memories of the Vaults pre theatre. We came to eat not to watch the panto. The ambience is lovely, the staff very pleasant, the wine excellent and the food appalling. Think small portions and jar sauces and you have it. Yuck. What a shame.

We enjoyed a pre-theatre meal here recently. The meal was enjoyable but not outstanding. The service was excellent and the surroundings lovely and cosy, although a little cramped in places. Good atmosphere too - the only real problem was the coffee, which was very weak and not of the quality you'd expect given the price and location. Overall a good hassle-free choice for pre-theatre dining.

We ate here as a pre theatre menu, whilst the surroundings are very intimate the food served is pretty average, very small portions and coffee that resembled dish water. Was very surprised by the waitresses reaction to the request for cream with our coffee, we were offered BLUE Milk what ever that is.
There are far better places in Bath

Cosy venue, excellent food and perfect service. A cool draught on my back when the doors opened for theatregoers was a little uncomfortable

We had lunch before the matinee performance. We chose the £15 two course meal.
We had slowed cook beef which was two small, dry, tough slices of beef, with carrot , broccoli , yorkshire pudding with roast potatoes (all shaking hands on the plate, meeting each other for the first time) all very much like you get at a poor pub. Followed by very tepid, rubbery, spotted dick (pre-cooked and pre-sliced and barely warmed up ) with thin, cold, tasteless custard.
Will definitely not be going back.
