“Not to be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

Bath has to be one of the UK's most staggering Cities. The architecture is breathtaking and the history mind-blowing. Set in the stone streets awash with antique shops and boutiques are the Assembley Rooms (available for functions and dinners of all kinds) and it houses the Fashion Museum.

A collection of diverse and amazing cloths from the 1700's to date. Currently it's running a special show of 50 Fabulous Frocks and they are. Dresses from every Designer imaginable, across the decades. For many it's a walk down memory lane. for others who are younger it is a reminder of the elegance of the past and the enduring talents of so many.

Worth a visit.

The shop is quite excellent too. It is small but packed with books that are of great interest on many levels. Fashion tells a historic story - that's what I learnt from the visit.

“Gorgeous Museum, well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

Greeted by friendly staff and given a free Audio Guide.

The museum is laid out beautifully and has great commentary on the guides, and more info on the walls if you wanted them.

The museum is a lot larger than you think - allow 1.5 -2 hours for a proper look around.

There are many different sections of the museum and the commentary is fantastic, easy to understand and informative.

It may be a little more expensive at £7, but well worth it.

The dress of the year exhibition is amazing to look at!

It is also quite child friendly. I saw a couple of kids doing a trail type thing, and there is also a great dress up area. The kids are able to look at how fashion has changed over the years and how ridiculous some of the clothes that people used to wear were!

I also attended a free, 20 minute tour. Great guide, knew her stuff - not only about the things she chose to talk to us about, but answered other questions about fashion with confidence and knowledge.

“Worth it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013 via mobile

Giving a good overview of the past fashion, with a focus on British dress. Loved the 50-years-anniversary special as well as the look behind the look area. Definitely a MUST for fashion lovers, students and designers!

“We'll worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

Do put this on you "To Do" list. To view fashions and textiles up close was an education. The special exhibition of designs and designers had been well thought out...if only us mere mortals were that thin! Set in the Assembly Rooms it gave us an insight to the Regency period. With their light muslin dresses, how elegant the young women must have looked. From then on, through the Victorian fashions up to modern times! it was enthralling. A great museum.
