Very small car park. Best to travel by public transport. 15 minute walk from coach and train station. Decor faded and tired looking especially in bedrooms. Comfy lounge with selection of reasonably priced cocktails. Staff obliging. Extra blankets given and one mattress changed because it was lumpy. Buffet breakfast beans, mushrooms, toast, fruit, yogurt and cereal. Delicious filter coffee. Environment of hotel is quiet as is the street location. Hotel holds bags at a fee of £1.00 per room.

This hotel was appalling from the minute we arrived.
There were 12 of us booked in for a hen weekend package deal.

Positive- the hotel is located on a quiet street about a 5 minute walk from the City centre.

That is the only pro.

Negatives - where do I begin?
Car park
The car park is round the back of the hotel and is walled in with 2 very very small exits.
There is enough room for 8 - 10 cars at a push. It took me 45 minutes to park a very small Peugeot, I was worried about denting/ smashing someone elses car.
Rooms - absolutely filthy. Stains on the bedding, Walls, skirting boards etc.
I refused to step into the bathroom it was that vile. When I neededto use the toilet I used the so
e what better toilets in reception.

No lift - if you are elderly or unfit do not bother contemplating booking a room. Our room was on the third floor, up three very narrow and steep stairs as well as small corridors.

Breakfast - absolutely disgusting! All food was swimming in geese and fat, sausages looked like that had 1% meat content.

If going to Bath, and you are after cheap accomodation, I would suggest booking a premier inn or travel lodge and spending money on a taxi into the centre.

DO NOT STAY HERE - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Last minute booking, also last room available in the hotel. General appearance of hotel shabby and well worn, room a health and safety risk -Double bed pushed into a corner, bed linen cream and brown. Walls bright purple. Only two sockets in room - so could only watch tv and dry hair, or put kettle on, this is after dislocating back to reach behind cabinet. Radiator mobile (on wheels) and balanced on a coat-hanger. Breakfast not too bad but layout of dining room poor, everyone walking into each other with hot food and drinks. Needs a complete make over - only thing missing was Manuel and Basil

I stayed here for New Years Eve 2009/10 about 4 months ago. Here are the good bits and the bad!>>>
GOOD: The hotel is very well located and you can walk into Bath centre in about 6-8 mins, and this was the MAIN reason for booking this hotel. The hotel is part of a victorian/ georgian (?) promenade, so looks pretty to the eye, and inside was generally clean and well maintained. As we were literally there for just the night, we weren't too concerned about facilities or food they served.

BAD: First of all, the hotel has a tiny guest parking area at the back which is very squashy, and after about 1pm is full up! Plus if you park in there first, you have to wait and ask another guest to move their car - but what if they are out of the hotel?!?!? - you're stuck!
Thankfully, there is pay&display parking right outside the hotel, and as it was a public holiday it was free.

Secondly, the walls are like rice paper!!! We could literally hear everything from all 4 walls - including the room above!! Plus being right next to the communal stairs did not help. We tried to catch a few hours sleep before the big night out for New Years Eve, and were just kept awake by the constant creaking of the floor-boards above!! - pure agony!

Overall, the hotel is okay for a one/two night stay if you have a room that doesnt squeak, and the location is excellent. But I probably wouldnt stay again.

This hotel is perfectly located for staying in Central Bath and is easy walking distance to all the shops. The front of the hotel looks very welcoming but their private car park located behind the hotel is so incredible small it’s not very nice to park in. If you have a car that you're not worried about getting a dent in the door its fine. We cannot fault the employees of the hotel they were all friendly and very welcoming however our room which was the four poster room was disgusting. The room could be so beautiful if they got rid of the filthy and sticky carpet and painted the room a lighter shade and replaced the bed. The four Poster bed looks to be covered in a net curtain that smells old and dirty and there is a dirty duvet covering the bed. The bed sheets underneath seemed to be cleaned so we removed the duvet when sleeping. The TV didn't work and blankets seem to be dumped in the bottom of the wardrobe that looked as though they could do with a clean. There is a real lack of light in the room which makes it feel depressing. The en-suite was beyond disgusting and I cannot stress enough how filthy it was. We did have a shower/Bath and hot water but you didn't want the shower curtain touching you. There was a large hole above the bath in the ceiling too which was off putting and what ever you do don't look behind the sink its black and rotten. We had breakfast in the morning which was a buffet style and wasn't amazing nor was it bad. It just seems such a shame that they haven't done up this hotel as it could be beautiful and somewhere I would certainly return too again. If you're not fussed about having a clean room and en-suite then this place will be fine, but I personally don’t enjoy having my feet stick to the carpet and having to use the filthiest en-suite I have ever seen. Unless they re-furbish this place I won’t be back.

We have just returned from a weekend at the Redcar hotel in Bath which was the accommodation allocated as part of a hen weekend package. We spent over half an hour at reception just trying to book into the double rooms we had originally booked. The staff during this time were extremely rude to us , at one point even shouting! We were told we were "not helping them" as they had another party to accommodate , and very swiftly reminded them that we were the guests and what happened to customer service?! After climbing four flights of stairs to the dingiest room ever in the attic , we realised what a dire place this was. The room was poorly decorated and my daughter slept on the floor...it was more comfortable. Parking was ridiculous , and we ended up having to park in a long stay car park , 20 minutes away and £11.00 ( reasonable ) for the overnight stay! We felt this was safer than leaving the car wedged in at the hotel and our keys with a non english speaking staff member! Bath still a wonderful city , and we had a great weekend , but would not recommend the Redcar.....to anyone! The staff need to attend a customer service course....and fast!

Room very much in need of refurbishment and a good clean, bed was very uncomfortable, curtains were dirty and full of dust, shower base was cracked, the seal around the shower door was brown and dirty. I could not open window in bedroom as it was tied up with cord this would be a hazard if there was a fire in the hotel. Staff were not very helpful and couldnt understand much english in breakfast bar we asked twice for clean crockery and cutlery but was not bought any to the table but instead was bought two lots of toast. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone it was a disgrace.
