“Terrible!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2013

Took my girlfriend to Bath as she hadn't been before.

We booked a double room for an average amount but got upgraded as they didn't have the room we booked. I can't even think how bad our first room must have been as the new one was really bad.

Cobwebs, wallpaper falling off, paint over light switches and a stink of that old and musty smell. The bed mattress was just springs and they had put a duvet between the bottom sheet and it to make it sleep worthy (which it wasn't), no duvet just a blanket for warmth and lastly one pillow for both me and my girlfriend.

They did say they can't reimburse or change rooms as they had none. £10 parking also. It's cheaper parking on road.

Good location but there are loads of other hotels available.

Worst place I've stayed before.

Ok here i go pin your ears back sit back and read on.
Redcar Hotel Bath, without doubt the worst last minute booking i have ever made, on getting to the Hotel i parked at the rear of the Hotel enough said that' a good point, read on walked around to the front of the Hotel and it was like a film set disused, went into reception was not sure i was in the right Hotel as left the paper work at home, i asked was my name in the booking form i was told yes, i was then told to pay the bill before i got the key, in other words the Hotel wanted my money in there bank before a got the key to the room, looking around the ground floor the Hotel was tired in need of a dam good clean, in the corner was a piano that looked like it was out of a Black & White Movie from 1934 would have gone well in the Wizard of Oz, i then went to the bed room, sorry flop house room, it was small & tired cleanish, in need of a make over, will talk about that ltr, the electric heater on the wall you could not plug in as the electric cord was some 12" short of the socket, so one had to take the heater off the wall to use it, now to the bed, hang on to your arm chairs now, i did not book a water bed but it moved a little quicker that reception taking my money, the bed moved with the sound of the river, but when i look out of the window i could not see the river and soon found out it was the sound of the laundry, buzzzzzzzzzzzing the bed moved a lot, as to say you could lie on it and the ceiling did not moved the whole Hotel moved, the bath room ive seen bigger sinks in B & Q at £9 99p, shower was wet and hot.
Now to where the Hotel is, remember the film Oliver? and Oliver is sing the song Who will bye my wonderful roses, well the whole street looks like that, then you got the Flop House Redcar Hotel tagged onto it, not a good sight, the hotel is sunk back further than a boxers dogs eyes.
Bath its self if was SHUT ive had better nights out in Wigan, thank god for JD's i asked was the anything on in Bath and remember its Boxing Day, the answer was i don't know, well there was entertainment in Bath in the form of, street guitar, violin player, 2 street tours, and the best entertainment was and i feel so ashamed of this and Bath the City should be too, the street people, all in all Bath was dull dim not a place i would rush back to see.
Back to the Flop House Hotel on return the night porter was without a doubt well mannered intelligent young man, i asked for a bottle of water and was told sorry the bar was close, what? a bottle of water, not wine beer just water.
All in all as for a later booking its not worth a bogof i would not wish to stay there ever again, to the people who own it, the TV Show 60 minute make over, they would not have enough time full time in 2 months.
Now i have stay lots of places in the UK on last minute and on the whole good value, the Flop House Hotel AKA The Redcar Hotel who knows after this i may have done them a favor, people may go to see if it is as bad as i said, or the owners may go to the Bank and do it up? or even better turn it into apartments.

Cornwall & discussed
ps trip would not let me put what i really wanted to or the words i wanted to.

PS i would like most of my money back i will pay you for clean sheets nothing more

We booked to stay here last minute, and now realize why it was the only place available! This place is real life Fawlty Towers! The worst 'hotel' I have ever stayed in.
Everything in the room was falling apart, lamps didn't work, horrible mouldy bathroom, the room was really dark and cold, the mirror and hairdryer are positioned so that it was impossible to use both at once. Whole room felt dirty and unclean with hideous 70's decor and a lack of accessible plug sockets. The room's door was coming of it's hinges! The beds were so old that we could feel the springs, and just didn't feel clean. This place really doesn't' deserve to be called an hotel; the only good thing about it the location, being very close to Bath city center. Really don't stay here, for any reason other than the location.

we booked to go to the Christmas market and I wished I had stayed on the street rather than this disgusting hotel, the staff where smoking at the door and went all through the hotel the bar ran out of wine and the rooms where truly of a standard I would not have put my worst enemy in.
The toilet was blocked and there was wallpaper hanging off the walls,

Blood stains on the wall.
Mattress that had seen better days! I had to borrow the cushions from the sofa in reception to make a bed in the floor.
Rusty soap holder!
Mouldy brown shower!
Cold water!
No duvet!
Old fleece blankets!
A twin room that was a single!
I advise you DON'T STAY HERE!!!!

We have stayed here several times to visit Bath and have always been very impressed. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff, they look after parking your car, look after your bags, and take the bags up to the rooms. The rooms have a good range of facilities, shower gel, hairdryer, soap, tea and coffee, which many other hotels have stopped offering. The hotel does not offer food, but there are several cafes and restaurants nearby offering breakfast, lunches and evening meals so no problem there. Brilliant choice.

Look at all the bad reviews they're real. I spent last night with 2 of my friends in family room 301. I booked it 3 months ago as this was the only room available for the Xmas market. I'd seen the bad reviews and desperately tried to book elsewhere without success but resigned to expecting it to be bad but thinking oh well its only for 1 night and somewhere to lay our head. I thought it would be better as was expecting the worst but oh my goodness it truly was the worst. I am shattered because I didn't sleep a wink and neither did my one of my friends. The mattresses seriously do need changing they feel like they are 50+ years old. So uncomfortable, springs lumpy just awful. The only reason my other friend slept is because she's a paramedic and used to sleeping under extreme conditions! The wallpaper is peeling off paintwork very tired decor and furniture dated old carpet with snagged thread. Felt like old sticky chewing gum on arm of sofa in room. Bannisters felt very tacky so you really don't want to touch anything and if you do need to wash! It was like faulty towers coming here very farcical and if we hadn't laughed about tthe hideous situation we would have cried especially having paid £120 and couldn't sleep . The only thing going for it is the location but that's it. Please do not stay here even if you are desperate it needs to be shut down and look at all the bad reviews we can't all be wrong!!!! P.s. After being led to believe we would most probably be able to park in their limited spaces car park even ringing at 9am we wasted time and money by paying machine and then at 11.30 am having to get caught in traffic and park out of town as we were now too late to park in the towns long term car park. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!
