“Beautiful, serene hotel with a personable touch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2014

I used Tripadvisor to find the best hotel in Bath for my girlfriend's 40th birthday. We had a friendly, warm reception and shown to our lovely Romantic suite; the photos did not even do it justice. My girlfriend was so enthralled by the room; there was also a lovely birthday gift left on the dresser from the staff.

The breakfast was superb and even managed to influence the daily special of Eggs Benedict. I also liked the idea of an honesty bar (yes, I was honest!). We were treated to a very personable experience, as though we were the only people in the hotel. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff and there were lovely little touches to set it apart from the run-of-the-mill chain hotels.

We can highly recommend Apsley House Hotel for a remarkable and wonderful experience. Congratulations to the team there who are the priceless jewels of a crown of a hotel in Bath.

We stayed here for three nights in July , the hotel is a very old building but very nice ,we stayed in the romantic room for one night which was as it is described very nice size and really cosy ,we had to move to another room as we could only book it for one night , the other room was smaller and a bit less cosy but still nice . The staff where really friendly and could not do enough for us , the breakfast was very nice and all freshly cooked to order. Nice walk in to bath , would defiantly return again .

Room Tip: Book the romantic room if available

I am reviewing this on behalf of a relative who does not have internet or computer access.
This is the second time i have put a guest here to stay whilst in Bath.
She loved the hotel, I visited the bedroom and checked it all out. The bed was comfy, and she slept well. The bathroom was clean and spacious with a good choice of Molton Brown toiletries. The choice of Coffees and teas in the room was super.
She had an entrance to the garden from her room. The key to the French windows didn't work when she first arrived , but this was quickly put right by the manager, who was courteous and friendly . All the staff were friendly and she felt very at home there as a single traveller. The breakfasts were good, and the lounge and gardens beautiful. She is returning later on this year:)

We have just returned from a 2 night break at apsley house. The house is beautiful and we stayed in the vitoria room it may be the smallest room but is still big plus the bathroom is one of the best we have seen in a hotel. However the real stars are the guys who run it. Nothing is too much trouble and as soon as we had arrived we were being told where the best places to go in bath. As for the breakfast what more could you ask for and the eggs benedict was exceptional. A great stay and great hosts would love to go back again

Our family party of 4 adults, a teenager and a toddler enjoyed a comfortable 3 night break in The Coach House at the Aspley House Hotel.

Upon arrival we were greeted on the driveway by a helpful member of staff who welcomed us into the Coach House. Everywhere looked clean and well appointed, fresh flowers in the kitchen were a nice touch along with full size Molton Brown toiletries in all the bath rooms (2).

I was particularly impressed with the range of crockery, glassware, pots and pans etc in the kitchen, it pretty much covered every thing you would need on a short stay. The high chair, ironing board and even a washing machine make it like home from home.
The welcome breakfast provided (included in the rate) was ample for us all and lasted the 3 mornings, bread, butter, cereals, jams, eggs, milk, plenty of ground coffee! The weather was fantastic so we enjoyed breakfast in our own private decked garden each morning which was nice.

The sitting area /lounge was a little on the small side but this was not a problem for us as we spent our days sightseeing and our evenings outside in the garden. If the weather had been poor the 6 of us would have felt cramped inside.

The hotel is situated on a fairly quiet suburban street, the Coach House has 1 off road parking space outside the front door.
The walk into Bath via the Royal Cresent takes a good half hour to 40 minutes, which is fine providing the weather is dry.

All in all an enjoyable stay in a homely accommodation. The only draw back could be the distance from the city centre, make sure you look at a map and are happy with the walk or taking taxi's before you book your stay.

• Large coach house, breakfast provided in apartment
-:
• Cleanliness of floor in apartment? (we had all black feet in the evening)

• With this high price breakfast should be included in restaurant (optional if customer requests so)

ApsleyManagement, Manager at Apsley House Hotel, responded to this review, August 2, 2014
Firstly, we would like to thank the guests for their kind comments and taking time to write the review.
The guests did not mention anything during their stay or upon departure - neither about the price, cleanliness of the floor or requesting breakfast in the hotel dining room which on occasion is available; despite the fact the Coach House is advertised as self-catering unit (with complimentary breakfast hamper).
A deep clean had been done just before their arrival (the floor had been vacuumed, mopped and steamed throughout the entire apartment) so any dirt must have been from their own shoes and brought in. We strongly refute that it was not clean.
In addition, we believe that £55 per person for one night accommodation is a fair price for modern comforts we offer and perfect for families.
Finally, we were very happy to hear that our staff was welcoming and they have found the apartment stylish as we do pride ourselves in the level of customer service we provide, as well as in our accommodation being finished to a high standard. We only wish the guests have said something, so we could explain the above in person.
